Today was a great day at the gym. Over the last 15 weeks I have been focusing on the three basics of weight training. Dead lift, bench press, and squats. Ive put on around fifteen to twenty pounds since mid October. Heavy lifting and lots of food. I have put on a few pounds of fat, but I think that comes with the territory. Today I did 25 consecutive reps. of 205lbs in the back squat. I was am pretty proud of that. The last time I tried a 20 rep set of squats it was with only 185lbs. I totally smashed that. I don’t mess around with partial squats either…we’re talking about full range of motion, past parallel and only two breaths allowed between each rep.

So today Adam, my lifting partner, and I went to the gym and decided that today was the day for some max lifting. It was a big day for the both of us. I have a new bench press record of 235 pounds twice so I’m pretty sure that my new record is ~240. For biceps we did strait bar and I got 125 up 3 times. For triceps we did overhead extensions and I got 105 twice. Then came military press behind the neck and I got 135 up three times no problem. I think I could probably do about 150. and last but not least was bent over rows where I got 175 three times. This was the best max day I have ever had. my new goals for lifting by the end of the summer, september, will be. 250 bench, 135 strait bar curls, 110 over head extensions, 150 military, 200 bent over rows. I also got 20 pull ups in a row the day before this.

Today is my first day off my supplements. I was on creatine, glutamine, and animal pack multi vitamin. I am going to cycle on and off these three for a while. I used them for 6 weeks and now I will be off them for another 4 or so weeks. I’m cycling them for any other reason people should cycle. I dont want my body to get used to there effects so I will let my body do what it does naturally for a while.

I just achieved a goal that I didn’t even know I had. It was a chest/back day and I was feeling strong. I hit the bench and every time I picked the wieght up off the rack it felt lighter. I successfuly got one set of 12reps @155, whatever no big deal, then 10 reps @175, it felt great and I could have easily kept going to atleast 12 reps. But I stopped knowing that the hard work was still to come. Then I smashed right through 8 reps @185. No problem. So I decided to push myself and go for a new 6 rep record. I put 205 on the bar and went for it. I repped all the way to five and had to get just the slightest spot half way through the 6th rep. I was stoked. New 5 rep max by 2 1/2 reps. I love these days. That is the kind of day I live for. To finaly see some progress. With bench press being one of my weaker lifts I was so happy to see improvement. New goal now is to get over this damn cold, hit the gym hard and get 8 reps @ 205lbs. Hopefully before summer. maybe end of may. 2-17-07…new record on 2-12-07
