Abs
November 21, 2008I’m so sorry I have not put up a post about the abs training as discussed.
I have to repeat what all the experts always say: eat you way to great abs! I never saw my abs until I started EATING. I was not skinnyfat - just skinny. I did have muscle and quite low %BF but I was always in starvation mode. That’s why all the heavy abs training I did never paid off until I started feeding the abs. As soon as I agve my body enough of the healthy stuff it needed my abs started growing.
I do all kinds of abs exercises - but I never do anything that I can do more then 15 reps of. If I can do that many reps means it is not doing anything for me. Adding weight plates and dumbbells to almost any abs routine will do the trick. Also try using an incline bench. The ultimate thing is, of course, hanging upside down (not so safe & easy if you work out alone)!
Whatever you do, always think about your abs as you train them. Focus all your energy and your mind on the muscle fibres and squeeze until it burns. I bet this way you will really feel the burn after just a few crunches. If you don’t - find another exercise.
Here is what I do:
- side-crunches on incline bench holding dumbbell for added resistance
- crunches with weight on chest
- V-up with dumbbell between feet
- reverse crunch with dumbbell between feet
- hanging leg lift
- plank with weight on back
Go for it!
