Well i did my half ironman in 8.5 hours. It was tough but felt so good to be done.

The hardest part was the swim without a doubt. This is where i dug deep and used my weight training philosphy mind over matter. There was a cut off time of 1 hour 10 min. Which i thought i would not make..As my race prev was only 750 meter sim.. It was two laps around osoyoos lake with me being last out of the water. All the paddlers were around me and the crowd was cheering when i made it out. only with 1 minute and roughly 25 secs to spare. Note to self must take lessons this winter.

I just wanted a chance to get on my bike. I was alittel lightheaded with the swim so didnt push it to get on the bike as quickly as i would have liked. once on the bike my smile was huge. To see my man coming back on his turnaround ride was so cool. He was so proud of me. He high fived me on the other side with a woohoo and off i went to catch up to my little sister who was doing this race as well. she is amazing as her bike is so old. I caught up to her half way and passed her on the turnaround. Now Osoyoos to Cawston is hill after hill with some nice downhill portions. It is part of the Ironman course and quite challenging to say the least but i had done it a few times before this ride. so i was ok with knowing i could do it. I had never felt the pain i did in my shoes though. I could feel the pedal through my shoes for some unknown reason and every pedal stroke hurt…if i had one last hill to climb it would have been tough..i perservered and the ride down richter was so amazing the feeling of the wind against your body ,,,excilirating…woo hoo

Than onward to the run…a half marathon..around the lake and back again twice,,,all i can say is good thing for sponges dipped in cold water only way i made it. Next time i could have gained some time by putting the race number on instead of going back to get it.

So all in all it was such a good day and even better when my little sister and i ran in hand in hand to the finish together…

1B4J9DxZgCD5Ns4yChoYMnXRfeCV1703.jpegWell i am done my first tri ..a sprint what an accomplishment as i dont really know how to swim well..

I started a tri training program at the rec centre and with my first swim felt i was panicking a lot and got heart burn from all the water i swallowed so i am happy with my time. I also did a bit of training in osoyoos as i am doing a half ironman competition.. Yes you heard right..another one of my blond moments…My time splits to do a 750m swim, 18.5k bike, 5k run.

1:48:39 Susan Vernon 0:25:48 3:26:00 0:46:55 25.6 0:35:56 07:11 run pace..hopefully i will manage to do the swim portion the bike i have no problem with as i have done a lot of biking and absolutly love my Cervelo..

So if you bodybuilders want to challenge yourself try a tri ..it is a lot of fun and to be outside is a nice change as well. Still managing some workouts in the gym ..cut back a little bit ..

My next goal after this weekend is to start upping the running to do a full marathon in october and some shorter races between now and than..

My job is good one last shift buddied with an Rn than i am on my own in a fulltime rotatation…yikes…

Otherwise a foot note these pictures were takend by my honey who had entered this race and did not pick up his package and did not even tell me he was signed up till i went to review the results..he had signed up and choose to support me all the way…what a sweet man….
