Score, new protein…

GNC Wheybolic Extreme 60I finally finished my Designer Whey and I’m excited about the move to a new flavor and also a new brand. I drove down to my local GNC with the intention of picking up the Optimum Nutrition protein I read about but decided on something else after talking with the guy in the store.

I picked up GNC brand protein(surprising right?), it’s called "Wheybolic Extreme 60" which sounds a little gimmicky to me but the guy said that it’s what he’s using and he genuinely feels like it’s been better for him than ordinary protein. The label says three scoops make up a single serving of 60g of protein and recommends a single serving per day. It’s a pretty similar to the 3 servings I have per day of my current powder but has some stuff called Leucine which it says helps protein uptake.

So the label is really proud of its 7.7G of Leucine and makes a small mention of Glutamine also being in the mix. This seems to be the major selling point and I thought I’d take the GNC guys word for it and give it a shot. I’ll save myself the 15$ and make the switch back to a normal powder if it responds like a bunch of marketing.

I have about a months supply and hope to see some kind of difference from this switch. If nothing else, the stuff tastes pretty damn good…

  1. Captain Ahab Says:

I hope that this particular protein works as well and even better than the GNC guy said it would, but there is something you should know about people who work behind the counter at various supplement outlets and that is they receive either a bonus or other such considerations by “pushing” certain products as dictated by their supervisors or area managers.
Store brands are preferred sellers over others because they are more profitable for the company and then come the ones where the manufacturer has given the company or store a better price for volume. There are many reasons why people behind the counter recommend products and not all of them are ethical.
I hope that you have found an ethical seller and again, that you get what you hope for from that protein.
    Best of luck.
