You put on some weight…

Monday, June 30th, 2008

That’s exactly what an old coworker told me this afternoon. While this would make most people feel bad about themselves or even upset at the person saying it… I felt great about it! It means I’m actually making some progress and making a noticeable changes. I hope to add a little more weight over the next two months then start to cut some bodyfat…

Feel really good about hearing that…

Full Fridge & Pantry

Sunday, June 15th, 2008

The feeling of having a full fridge & pantry is probably one of my favorite things in the world. I got to go grocery shopping today and came back with enough for a few weeks thanks to sams. No junk food, just quality stuff…

I’d recommend everyone on this site get a membership to sams, it really is worth it!

Happy Father’s Day!

Score, new protein…

Saturday, June 14th, 2008

GNC Wheybolic Extreme 60I finally finished my Designer Whey and I’m excited about the move to a new flavor and also a new brand. I drove down to my local GNC with the intention of picking up the Optimum Nutrition protein I read about but decided on something else after talking with the guy in the store.

I picked up GNC brand protein(surprising right?), it’s called "Wheybolic Extreme 60" which sounds a little gimmicky to me but the guy said that it’s what he’s using and he genuinely feels like it’s been better for him than ordinary protein. The label says three scoops make up a single serving of 60g of protein and recommends a single serving per day. It’s a pretty similar to the 3 servings I have per day of my current powder but has some stuff called Leucine which it says helps protein uptake.

So the label is really proud of its 7.7G of Leucine and makes a small mention of Glutamine also being in the mix. This seems to be the major selling point and I thought I’d take the GNC guys word for it and give it a shot. I’ll save myself the 15$ and make the switch back to a normal powder if it responds like a bunch of marketing.

I have about a months supply and hope to see some kind of difference from this switch. If nothing else, the stuff tastes pretty damn good…

Business Trip Blues

Saturday, June 14th, 2008

Well, I’m back from my trip… it’s been a busy period at work and I’ve been having to travel back and forth from Atlanta over the past few months. It wouldn’t be a big deal if I could find a way to keep up with my supplements and workouts but it’s damn near impossible.

I worked out very lightly at the gym in the hotel during the week but they only had cable machines and they felt very odd. I wasn’t able to get a good feel for the weight and basically cut the workouts short, sorry, it just didn’t feel natural.

The positive thing from all this is that I had a genuine feeling of wanting to get a workout in. It felt strange not getting my usual sets in and I think that’s a step in the right direction. It’s becoming part of my routine which is something that’s very important to me.

I’m looking forward to my sets this week and hope I haven’t lost too much ground having been out an entire week.

I also switched protein brands and am looking forward to seeing any difference. I did not switch to the ON brand like I planned to but instead went with what my GNC guy recommended.

I’m pleased about being about 8 weeks in and still pushing.

Pizza 1, Me 0

Sunday, June 1st, 2008

I screwed up on my semi-diet yesterday by having pizza & beer. I’m pissed because I had been keeping up for a few weeks and had not eaten anything completely terrible until yesterday.
I ended up working a full day yesterday and we all decided to go out for a bite afterwards. A new pizza place opened up near by and everyone seemed to want to try it so I didn’t want to kill the groove….

How do most people recover from screwups? An extra day of cardio?
