So today was an awesome and productive day!!! I was a bit nervous (yes Ill admit it hehe) going into mma training cause my coach said that he had a surprise for me today, I was like uh oh!!! =0P But anywho, it was that I ‘graduated’ into a new level of training with the addition of conditioning! Now in mma training, ‘conditioning’ basically refers to letting your body/muscles (and mind) get used to being hit, cause hey, its gonna happen!! So this was just on another level of experience for my body and as a consequence hard to explain but an example is teaching someone who is not used to resistance exercise how to do a squat, I call that the ‘new movement’ phenomenon (which usually is accompanied by ‘new movement’ face which is always entertaining =0P) in which the body basically goes, "hey, what the hell are you doing to me??? " But then our bodies are basically adapting machines so with consistent repetition it goes okay looks like we’re gonna have to get used to this….So that basically was the feeling I was getting for the first time ever when I started feeling punches on my head (with headgear on!), sides, abs, and legs but whadddooo ya know after a few mins the initial shock wore off and its like I just went in the zone with the drills we did after that and it was just awesome….yeah maybe im a lil nutty like that but ya know, im channeling my inner aggression productively now and each time I leave I feel a peace and sense of control over myself that I’ve NEVER felt before!!! So then later on today I did my resistance training before my PM victims and here it is!!

Today was a verrrrry exhaustingly great loooooong day. =0) Lots of kicking butt of others and my own!! SO thoughts:
Change happens, that is for sure, and not just in our modern, 21st century era. It seems that the stress of the new affects most people in every age. So the trick is not to resist it, but to go with it. The real problem for the creative person is getting over the resistance of those who don’t want to change……and boy has it been changing very recently….I was looking back at my last couple of blogs and I had NO CLUE that on Aprill 22nd JUST wat opportunity would come my way, I def succeeded in freakin myself out a little in sensing the impending course of events that would unfold (especially since I mentioned being interested in a ‘contact’ sport =0) ….okay enough of the ‘being mysterious’ ha. So an opportunity came my way a week and a half ago when I found a man who was looking for a female competitor to train, met with him and started training with him the next day and have been everyday during the week. HOLY HELL. So anywho yeah, the sport is good ole mixed martial arts and muay thai, (thailand’s ‘kickboxing’), both of which he is training me for….yes MMA is all popular now and I totally cringe at ‘popular’ stuff and like a good friend once told me, everyone (i think he was thinking in his head dudes, ha) thinks they’re a fighter which I agree with =0)
Well anywho, I’ve always had a deep curiosity and appreciation for martial arts, especially the discipline and mastery of the body (and mind) involved but have never been trained for it, well as soon as I got the offer I have decided to take it and like I had forseen, never look back…..
So far this past week and a half has been AMAZING. I can see why fighting can be addicting to certain personalities. For one, I love being coached/mentored and learning new things, I love PAIN, sweating my ASS off (everyday i look like I ran through a sprinkler repeatedly), and I have deep rooted aggression/temper issues that are now being channeled more productively (whooooops =0P). So everyday during the week I am training with Duane (who is inspiring me everyday with his positiveness) for about an hour and a half doing drills using weights, kettlebells, shadowboxing, etc, and everyday is different!!! I’m kind of going with the flow on my diet, I’ve just basically upped my protein a bit as I’ve noticed right away I’m way more hungry and yeah, I’m not doing mindless gerbil activity (cardio) anymore yaaaay. But I AM lifting still thanks to Weaponx66’s continuous guidance on the workouts and I’m watching myself to make sure I get enough rest cause overtraining is a BITCH.
Everything I’ve done in the past is leading up today……
Day 1 Done in the morning……
