To be or not to be… Vegan
I posted a thread on the Forum asking for info about Vegetarian bodybuilders. Sure, I’ve read up on it before. But, I’m looking for people who are living the life so to speak. A few of the times where I have been the most ill in my life have been due to food poisoning- all related to meat. The last time was this time last year. I was down for four whole days due to some bad ground turkey. Anyway, I’ve thought about it before, and now the fire is burning again. Can anyone offer any personal insight?

Funny you should ask. I competed as a pesco-octo–lacto vegeterian for almost 4 years…just retiurning to land of MEAT last summer…5 wks before ‘06 USA Championships. I placed 6th (fig-D) and concluded no harm…and roll with it.
I did not eat pork, turkey, chicken, beef. Just seafood eggs and not a whole lot of dairy (I DO like SOY)
My decision to stop was ’cause me and a friend fell ill after supposed "chicken" dinner while we were in London, England. Never again…guaranteed by NOT eating meat.
Thank goodness my fast metabolism can counteract the negstive effects of high fat content of nuts ( a still main source of protein for me).
Anyway, best to ya’ on your decision. Dawn Melanie

Thanks Dawn… I’ll keep you posted on what I decide to do and how it’s going. I may ask you for some recipe advice down the line…

No problem. I may even be inclined to share some from a hopefully sooner than later cookbook…totally competition friendly yet totally tasty and aesthetically pleasing to the eye. ~Dawn Melanie

Sweet. I’m looking forward to it.
