Hey there everyone! I have been so busy and not keeping up with my BB.com stuff. So here goes… I did get a trainer for about a month, and in that time I got down to my goal weight of 205 (from 225)! I also increased my bench by about 25lbs and lost about 9% BF. I still don’t feel like I can post any progress pics on here though, way too many huge guys on here to compare myself to. Who knows maybe in a month or two. Thanks to those of you on here that have answered my Q’s and offered encouragment! Good luck to all those out there working towards your goal, and remember..it is all about drive and DIET!! Later for now folks.

I’m at the point now, where I am considering hiring a trainer. I feel that I might be waisting my time in the gym because I don’t have a focused workout/diet plan. There is just too much conflicting information out there, when to eat and what to eat. So I guess I’ll ask some Q’s and some of you out there can give me some A’s!
Q: Is it worth hiring a PT?
Q: About how much does a pretty good PT cost?
Q: What are some of the certifications to look for in a PT?
Q: Does anyone know of any good PT’s in the Phoenix area (east valley)?
Any suggestions or comments would be appreciated. I really want to get serious about my training, but I kinda feel lost as where to start. My biggest fear is to hire someone and get no results, so I want to hire the right person.

I had a great workout today! While I was at the gym I saw a group of guys doing work, and it cracked me up. I refer to them as “Grunters”, you all know who they are and some of you might fit in this category. I’m not hatin, they just make me laugh! So, in the spirit of Letterman….top ten reasons “You might be a grunter”.
(I thought of these on the way home so bare with me)
10. Your lifting gloves match your lifting shoes.
9. You treat weight machines as if they were covered with the West Nile Virus.
8. You voted for Arnold Schwarzenegger…even though you live in Wisconsin.
7. 8 minutes is the minimum between sets.
6. Your girlfriend just doesn’t get why having sex the night before leg day could totally ruin your workout!
5. To you, mesh shirts will ALWAYS be in style.
4. You cried at the end of “Pumping Iron”.
3. You have no less than 4 workout partners (but only 2 of you actually lift).
2. Unlike everyone else in the gym…you don’t have to re-stack your weights.
1. No matter how loud someone turns up their ipod, they can still hear you grunting!
If you fall into this category I’m not making fun of you. I just find amusement in about everything I see. I just hope to lift enough weight that justifies a good grunt!!

Okay…I have officially had it! Do all you “Beautiful People” pay monthly dues or something? Am I the only one that notices that all the good-looking people in the gym (guys and gals) know each other? I just got back from the gym, first time in 3 weeks (I hate myself!) and I notice 2 women who are fit and good looking. I NEVER gawk, but I did notice them, and they were talking to each other. About 15 minutes later a dude walks in sporting his matching workout clothes. I mean this guy must have taken 30 minutes getting ready for the gym, he even had his damn hair styled (I hate these kinda guys)! Naturally, he knows the two ladies and they all begin talking. I swear it’s like once you’re in shape you become part of a secret club! So I decided today I am starting an “Average People” club. If you are above a 7 on the “Hotness Scale” you can’t join! So all you average folks out there that are tired of all the beautiful people…give me a shout. Long live being average…until we get in shape and can join the hot club that is.

I have a question for the ladies on gym etiquette. First off let me set the stage by giving you some background on me. I am not a tank top sportin, grunting gym rat. I don’t talk to anyone in the gym or linger around the aerobics room. I make it a point to keep my head down in the gym and just get my workout done. So here is the scenario. Today walking in the gym I do my normal scan of the gym to see the familiar faces and see what is on the TV screens. I see a few people on the treadmills doing their thing and everyone has towels or sweatshirts covering the monitors. One woman in tiny white shorts has her sweatshirt covering the monitor as well. So it was a leg day (YUCK) and I start doing my thing, first the leg press then on to squats. After completing my sets I move on to the leg extension machine that happens to be located directly behind “Miss White Shorts”. After my first set I look up (I always look at my quads during this exercise) and Ms White Shorts is tying her sweatshirt around her waist. Now keep in mind it has been on her monitor the entire time I had been there. Now, she appeared to be in good shape but no Jamie Eason by any stretch. The only reason I noticed the sweatshirt maneuver is because it is funny to see someone running try to accomplish this task without stumbling onto their face. So I finish my sets and move on to my next exercise. Not more than 2 minutes later I notice the sweatshirt back on the monitor. WHAT THE HELL!! I could take it no other way than she thought I was there solely to take a gander at her buns. So my question is, was I right? I just left the gym feeling like a dirty old man! Any input or reaction from all you out there would be appreciated to avoid any further misunderstandings.

After two weeks I missed my 10lbs mark by a couple of pounds. I feel like I put in some good work in the gym and I am eating better but I came up a little short, and I am not happy about it! I guess I figured since I was so out of shape that it would come off faster but I guess anything worth doing takes time. I feel this site has helped me out a bunch, seeing everyone on here and what they have to say keeps me motivated. It’s kind of funny looking back to when I was sixteen and making fun of my Stepdad’s gut and showing my somewhat chiseled abs. What a difference ten years makes on the body! I guess I’ll see where I am at in another two weeks and hopefully get some good advice on here in the meantime. To all you out there keep up the good work!!

Well, I am almost 2 weeks into my training and so far I think I am doing ok. I am holding steady with about a 6 lbs lost so far, I was kind of hoping for 10 by Wednesday but I’m not holding my breath. I’m not having any problems making it to the gym (I go 5 days a week) and I am doing more cardio than I ever have (30 min a day) but it’s the eating I am struggling with. I love to eat good home cooked food, not a big sweets eater but set me down in front of a dish of lasagna and it’s all over. I don’t like feeling hungry all the time and even though I am drinking a ton of water (1gal a day) I never feel full. Plus I never know what to order at a restaurant. I am changing my workout regiment this week, courtesy of Muscle & Fitness so we’ll see how it goes! For all those out there putting in work…keep it up!!

I just started out on here and I could use help from those that have a grip on the fitness world. I am trying to lose weight and have a body that doesn’t need a t-shirt at the beach. So any pointers or support would be appreciated!
