My brain hurts!

January 10, 2008

Well my trainer Kim Oddo has recommended me to do either the Emerald Cup, the Contra Costa, or the Northern California this year. Ok, so heres the deal, I am still a NEWBIE! And then I will be a newbie in a strange place, trying to tackle the hardest thing I think I have possibly done! Alone! Well, Kim said he would be there with me (whew! Great relief!)but for the most part, I want this more than anything! And when looking at the website, I dont see anything with the word "novice" on it. All I see is "Championship". Call me crazy, but doesn’t championship mean that you have already paid your dues and advanced on to the next step?? I just dont want to jump up there with a bunch of seasoned vets, and get completely blown out of the water. But who knows? Maybe I just might shock everybody! But if anyone has competed in any of these, or anything about these events, please help me out!!

I LOVE my new clients!!

November 21, 2006

I met two of my new clients this morning and I could not be more excited!! I am putting together a Pilates/Boot Camp/Yoga class for about 6 ladies who have some of the funniest personalities I have seen in a long time! One of my girls want to get rid of her "muffin-top butt", all I could do is laugh, I have never heard that term before! Good for me, cause I am really goofy and like to bounce around and joke around with people, YEA! Anyways, I have to get a routine put together for this Tuesday. So I am running through old dvd’s and browsing the websites for new ideas. This is going to be so much fun! Well, I’m fixing to head back up to the gym and fry my shoulders, had to come home to eat, I was STARVIN!!

1000 - 5oz chicken breast, 2 cups of coffee with 1 tbsp. gingerbread creamer

1130 - 2 egg whites and piece of whole wheat bread

1200 - Shoulder workout:

Hand me another 45 please!

November 20, 2006

Ok, I have finally narrowed the list down to 3 competitions that I’m shooting for, the first being in June 07. Last wednesday, I had Blaine take some pics of me so I could track my progress. I need to gain some size in my upper body before I start cutting in late January. With this being the first time I am shooting for more mass gains, I am having to shake everything up, routine, diet, supplimentation, everything. This is an exciting time for me, a time to see what I am made of, and I am open to any and all suggestions, cause I wanna be the BEST! From now until the day I step on stage I will be sharing my notebook, so here goes!

730 - 3 egg whites, 2 pieces whole wheat bread, 1 tsp. light butter, 2 cups coffee with 1 tbsp. gingerbread creamer (oh so good!) :)

930 workout: Barbell Curls - 25lbs/15, 35/12, 40/10, 45/8, 50/6 - Actually did pretty good on these, better than I did last week, YEA!!

DB Hammer Curls - 10/12, 15/10, 20/8, 25/6 - Not the greatest form on the last two sets, so ended up pushin them up and taking the negatives super slow.

                    Cable Curls w/ straight bar - 40/12, 45/10, 50/8, 55/6 - Last set was killer!

Skull Crushers - 30/15, 35/12, 40/10, 45/8, 50/6 - One of my favs, gonna make Blaine or Bristol come with me next time, thought I was gonna drop the last 2 reps on my head! lol

Dips - 15/12, 20/10, 25/8, 30/6 - Usually have no prob, but really heavy today for some reason :(

                    Rope Press - 30/12, 35/10, 40/8, 45/6 -  I *love* these!!

1030 - Banana Cream Muscle Milk (Yummmmyyyy!!!)

1330 - Tuna Burger w/ 1 egg white, 1 piece of W.W. bread

1430 - 1/4 Zone Perfect Cranberry Almond Raisen Bar, coffee w/ 1 tbsp. creamer

1500 - 1 cup broccoli, 1 tsp. light butter

1930 - Winsor Pilates Accerlerated Body Sculpting - I am teaching a Pilates class at the gym I train at and am trying out as many different moves as possible for my own routine

2230 - 6 oz. chicken breast and 2 cups steamed broccoli

Friday, November 10th - Cheat day = lots of cardio!!

November 11, 2006

Ok, so I am a self-confessed mexican food junkie who lives for her weekly "cheat-day" J/K! Actually, my boyfriend’s grandparent’s came to visit and took us out to eat at El Chico’s (not exactly the epitome of healthy establishments), which happens to be one of my FAVORITE restaurants with some of the best chicken tortilla soup ever made (Ok, it’s almost lunch and now I’m getting hungry!) I am in the dark regaring the nutritional breakdown on the soup, except for the basics like the avacado, chicken, and the Tbsp. of cheese they put on the top (million bucks it’s not fat free! ha!), but I think I can get somewhat in the ballpark at least. Nonetheless, I wanted my carb intake on my cheat day to go up, and I think I accomplished that feat with ease! I have been restricting my calories and carbs for the last 3 days, so I needed the extra carbs to keep my body from going catabolic on me. I added an extra 30 minutes of medium intensity cardio, with about 10 minutes of abs and glutes. So here’s what today looks like…

Treadmill

5 minute warm-up at 3.5

3 minute run at level 8 then bring it down to level 4 for 3 minutes, then push the incline up to 12% at level 3 for 3 minutes. Repeat the cycle for 60 minutes. 5 minute cooldown.

Then get on the stability ball and do 10 full crunches, 10 oblique crunches to each side, then 10 pulsing crunches (non-stop for all 40). Do 3 sets of these. Then get on the floor and do 25 glute kickbacks, holding at the top for 2 seconds, on each leg. Do 4 sets of these!

Fun!!

Thursday Nov. 9 - Killer cardio day…OUCH!!

November 9, 2006

First and foremost, cardio is not my forte. When I was young, I was a huge athlete who played nearly any and every sport available to me. Once I graduated high school I continued weight training (my love!) and pretty much said "Arevaderchi!" to cardio. Now that my goals have changed from just wanting to have the best body at the lake or beach in the summertime, to wanting to become a figure COMPETITIOR, I knew that I was going to have to welcome back what I was so happy to see leave. So whining and crying aside, here is day one of my journey to be the best!

Treadmill

5 min. at 3.7 / 1% incline

2 min. at 5 / 2% incline

2 min. at 5.3 / 4% incline

2 min. at 5.5 / 6% incline

2 min. at 5.5 / 8% incline

1 min. at 5.7 / 8% incline

1 min. at 6 / 9% incline

Now jump on the Stepmill machine!

5 min. at 6

5 min. at 8

2 min. at 10

Cooldown 3 min. at 4

Total time: 30 minutes
