Got a CHEAP (priced) Dumbbell Rack!

May 9, 2007

I just got back from Dick’s in Homestead and they had dumbbell racks, two tier, nice sized, that they were trying to get rid of.

Normally, $99, they had them for $4.93. I wasn’t planning on getting hex dumbbells today, but I bought the rack at that price. (I was pricing them because I want to get a set of hex dumbbells.)

They have one left, floor model, but it’s in good shape. They we’re just "two years old" the guy said and they were clearing it our for new inventory.

Groceries (with photo)

April 22, 2007

Well here’s what I bought this morning. Some’s not for me, like the yogurt, it’s for the wife, and the juice boxes are for my kid. I don’t eat the veggie turkey slices either. I’m bulking and in case you couldn’t tell, I’m vegetarian.

Also, in the bulk bags in front (l-r): raisins, barley, low fat granola, great northern beans, whole oat flour. The cannister to the left in front is PB. The jug is maple syrup.

Designated Driver for the Gym?

April 11, 2007

Well after losing my home gym and suffering through viral-gastroenteritis, I resumed lifting at the local JCC today.

How embarrassing!  I was so weak it was pathetic!  Let’s just say we should be grateful for the invention of the safety bars in the squat rack, huh?

Anyways, regardless of how little weight I was actually able to move today, I worked my legs until they were jello, just before the point of passing out.  Afterwards I tried to recuperate in the lounge a little bit afterwards with a post workout shake (I mixed it in the locker room, how gauche).

But then, it was time to go.  This was NOT going to be fun.  After about 10 minutes of sitting still in the lounge and enjoying my shake in the midst of a rapidly spinning room, I realized my legs weren’t in the best shape to carry me home.

I must’ve made 6 stops on Murray Ave at various places (post office, bank, bakery, newsstand), just to give my poor legs a break.  It was then I realized that what you need at the gym is a designated driver.  Some buddy to go with who you know isn’t going to lift too much and will be just fine driving to get the rest of his group home.  For as much trouble as I had walking home from the gym (about 8 blocks), I wouldn’t NEVER been able to drive home.  I was way too dizzy and wobbly.

I just never realized this before as I always used to work out in my basement.

Oh well….I wonder how well my legs will carry me TO the gym tomorrow morning.  They’re going to be sore as hell when I wake up, I can tell.  :)

Best Cutting Diet EVER!!!!!

April 1, 2007

Viral Gastro-enteritis!  :)

After getting my home gym wiped out by a broken sewer line, I came down with my daughters stomach flu and, just like her, ended up in the hospital after becoming completely dehydrated, weak, and dizzy.  Lost almost ten pounds in a couple days.

I’ll probably be able to resume lifting sometime next week, but after not eating food for a few days, I’m as weak as I’ve ever been in my life.  I was even having trouble walking.  So, it’s going to be one embarrassing day in the gym when I start struggling to bench 90 pounds.  :(

Oh well, one more obstacle to work through. :)

My basement gym is, uh…gone for now…

Luckily, the local Jewish Community Center (few blocks from my house) was nice enough to give me a free week membership to their weight room while my stuff is being taken care of.

Ok, last week went well…

March 11, 2007

I got in two good workout days last week, and my back is holding up well.  In fact, it feels fine now, and I’m finally ready to start my regular lifting routine.

M: Chest - Biceps

T: Quads - Hams

Th: Shoulders - Triceps

F: Back - Calves

I’m still a bit paranoid that my daughter will bring home another cold from pre-school.  It’s been one after another for so long now, I can’t remember the last time I made it through a whole week’s workout.

I’ve really lost strength and mass.  I need to get back in the swing of things.

Woohoo! Lifted today!

March 8, 2007

Alright, I couldn’t wait any more.  My back was still a little off, but it didn’t exactly hurt, so I went at it today, doing chest and biceps.  Felt great!

Except it was a little ego-bruising.  I’m a lot weaker now.  I was amazed how much strength I had lost.

Anyways, hopefully I’ll be able to get back into a good routine and get my ass in shape.  I have a LONG way to go, and the only way to get there is by consistent work!
