The devil is out to get me!

Wednesday, June 18th, 2008

Okay, so the 12 week transformation was stopped before it got started. Had a slight ACL problem that took me off my feet for about 2 weeks and is still a little sore. I have finally gotten to where I can exercise again without hating life. Thank the good Lord above, I have only put back about 6 pounds. Anyways, I’m going to take it easy and keep a strong eye on my diet and hopefully, I’ll be back to full training soon. New pics (still gross) coming soon. This is happening and it will be amazing.

Pics up… Self Esteem… Down!

Tuesday, April 1st, 2008

Well, it’s the beginning of week 3 and I have finally got those pesky pics up of my "before" physic! They are called "before" pics, because before I saw them I didn’t want to throw up! Anyways, things are going pretty good. Still getting use to the slowly but surely method of weight loss, but getting much better with my form while working out. Getting really good pumps and starting to get a feel as to what gets my body to react.

I still have a hard time looking at myself in a mirror. It is truly a shame what I have done to myself and I truly feel as though God should have taken this body away from me a long time ago with the way it has been treated. Thankfully, he has given me a second, third and forth chance and I’m not going to let it go to waste. I keep reading the magazines (love Muscle and Fitness) and use it as inspiration for the type of physic that I would like to develop. BodySpace has been huge in getting me motivated. Looking at the transformations some people have made and getting the messages from everyone really keeps me focused.

Anyways, I’m feeling good about things and keeping my eye on the prize. Thanks for all the love, support and prayers and I hope to make you all proud!

Have a great week!

Starting Week Two

Tuesday, March 25th, 2008

Well, made it through week one without any big set-backs or disappointment. I’m still needing to get more sleep so hopefully I can get that rectified this week. I’m really starting to learn what works for me. What exercises are giving me the best pump and my form is getting much better. I’m actually starting to believe that changes will come if I keep focused. I have traditionally allowed myself to get discouraged if I didn’t drop 35lbs. and gain a ripped physic after the first week, but I now understand that this is a lifestyle not a quick fix. So I am very excited about seeing the gradual changes and appreciate the hard work more than I use to.

I am trying to get my diet a little more stream-lined as I go. I have been staying kind of consistant with what I eat, but I’m flirting with the dreaded "burned out" factor that comes with eating the same thing everyday. It gets difficult to eat healthy when you are wanting a hot meal and you can’t cook. I’ve come to the conclusion that fast food is from the devil! It’s everywhere and you can’t get away from it. There are fast food joints every half block, signs for them in between and when you get home and you are feeling a little bit of pride for going the entire day and resisting the temptation… you get beat over the head with ads promoting fast food. Some of which are comical because they actually try to sell themselves as healthy… what a crock!

Anyways, so far I have been doing well with things, but will still need to tweak the diet as I go. It’s a struggle, but I know that strength comes from enduring what use to be stronger than you.

Thanks for all the support and prayers that I have been receiving. It has truly been a great motivation knowing so many are behind me and my rebirth. Keep in touch and I’ll keep posting my experiences (good and bad).

Pics coming soon! Don’t get excited… it’s not pretty!

Day One

Monday, March 17th, 2008

Okay, so this morning I was at the gym at 5:30 am. It wasn’t that difficult getting there as I have always been a morning person, but it was a little hard to squeeze my full workout in the time I had. May have to get there earlier tomorrow! Anyways, I did 25 minutes of cardio (walking) alternating the incline from %0 grade to %5 grade in 2 minute intervals. It’s kind of sad that I was in my target heart range without running a single step. I guess that’s what happens when you live at Wendy’s and Krispy Kreme… what was I thinking.

Today was upper body day and for whatever reason I love upper body day! I think it has to do with feeling the soreness for the whole day, being that I use those muscles the most for day to day activities. It’s kind of like a constant reminder throughout the day that I did what I was suppose to do! The workout went well, I pushed myself pretty hard and got my sets to failure within the 6-8 rep range. As I stated earlier though, I will need to get to the gym a few minutes earlier for adequate time without rushing.

Nutrition is going to be the hardest thing of all for me. I don’t necessarily have a sweet tooth or unhealty cravings. I do have a very busy schedule which makes it all too tempting to pull into a fast food places and kill myself quickly! I am currently looking for anything quick and easy that will help me achieve my goals, which isn’t easy. I’ll let everyone know if I find anything worth mentioning.

So, that’s day one! We’ll see how this goes and how my goals come along. Hope everyone is having as much fun as I am. I’ll have some photos to post soon, so get ready to be emotionally scarred, it ain’t pretty. I can’t wait to see what’s waiting for me under all this flab and I’m sure my girlfriend can’t wait either! God Bless!

Here we go!

Thursday, March 13th, 2008

Alright folks! It’s been a while, but it’s time for this fat boy to get it in gear! I have been a member of BB.com for about a year and have been struggling for consistency the entire time. I am going to begin a 12 week program, designed by myself with information I have gathered from BB.com, Fitness Mags and other reliable sources. Hopefully, at the end of this 12 week period I will find enough inspiration and motivation to make it through another 12 period and reach my ultimate goal of around 210lbs. and 9% body fat.! I will begin my diet and training sessions on Monday March 17th. I will have 6 days at the gym that will be scheduled as follows:

 Mon. Cardio/Weight Training

Tues. Cardio/Weight Training

Wed. Cardio

Thurs. Cardio/Weight Training

Fri. Cardio/Weight Training

Sat. Cardio

Sun. Rest/Random Active Recreation

The most difficult thing for me is going to be the diet. Not to mention I already have the metabolism of a cow! Anyways, I’m hoping that anyone who reads this can make suggestions in regards to food. I can’t cook to save my life and I’m generally on the go (which is the biggest problem). Fast food and pre-packaged, processed and enriched foods have been finding their way into my gullot in spite of my best efforts. Anything instant, pre-cooked, canned or requiring microwave preparation would be great. A man can only eat so much canned tuna before he starts to grow scales!

I would also like suggestions and the best "at-home" methods of calculating body fat %! I have heard the calipers are kind of a pain and that some of the electric impedance scales are very inaccurate. So any recommendation there would be great. I plan on updated my blog regularly (possibly daily, at least weekly), so please check back and see what type of progress I have made and what has been rattling around in my head while this is taking place. My before pics will be posted on Monday! It ain’t pretty! Wish me luck and more importantly…. discipline! God bless!
