Yesterday I decided to get my AF fit test out of the way and needless to say I didn’t do very well. I haven’t been working out since my surgery in October, which pretty much meant I was going to do well. The weather helped a little bit, but was still really cold and windy. But, what do you expect for Colorado in December? My results are as follows:

Pushups: 40

Situps: 49

Waist: 35"

Weight: 171

1.5-mile run: 13:39

My overall score is 74.5 right now, but I’m waiting to see how much it changes when you factor in the altitude here. I’m moving to Texas in two weeks so I hope to get back on the horse and start lifting and training again. Wish me luck!

Man, we are getting drenched here in Colorado this weekend! But, the upside is that no one seems to be braving the weather to get to the gym (except me). =) I had my final workout of the week today and it went great. My bicep workouts were much improved from last week. I had to discontinue using NO eXplode because it was making my stomach a little uneasy. I’m going to switch to Superpump 150 because I heard from lots of people here at BB.com that it was awesome. Today is also my cheat day so I think I’ll take the family out to Red Robin or something. I love their bonzai burgers. =)

My groin injury seems to be feeling a lot better today so I’m going to get some time in at the gym today. I took two days off in the middle of the week, which is weird because I usually only take two days off from lifting on the weekends. Today is shoulders, calves, and abs so it should be a pretty easy day. Tomorrow I’m tackling my back and biceps. Hopefully I’ll make some gains like I saw on Monday with my chest and triceps. =)

Got a great workout in yesterday and today is one of my day offs so I kinda don’t know what to do with myself. What do you guys do on your days off from the gym?

After putting in four good workouts at the gym this week, I decided to save my cardio sessions for the weekend. Cardio for me means running 1.5-2 miles around the Falcon football stadium on the Air Force Academy. The only problem with this is that it gets crazy hot here by 9 a.m. So, this means I need to get up at 6 a.m. to take all my pre-workout supplements and morning protein shake before I head out to the track. On Saturday, this wasn’t too much of a problem because I got almost 8 hours of sleep the night before. But last night, we got home from Denver about 11 p.m. around a going-away party and I didn’t end up getting to bed until midnight.

So, I groggly got up this morning around 6:15 a.m. and didn’t feel like running at all. My body ached from this week’s workouts and I was in no mood to go out in the hot sun and run in around the Academy grounds. But, remembering my brethren at BB.com, I mustered up the courage and determination to get my butt out there. I ran 1.5 miles in 13:33, which was pretty much at a jogging pace. I did speed it up a bit around the last quarter-mile, so that helped my time out. Anywayz, I’m very happy to report that I did both of my cardio workouts this weekend and I will continue to get them in at least 2-3 times a week along with my weight training. Keep up the words of encouragement because you guys are really helping me get over the hump and take my fitness to another level! =)

So yesterday I called our base health and wellness center to get my body fat measured and they set me up with an appointment to use their Bod Pod. I had no idea what it was so I looked it up online at http://www.bodpod.com/ and found out it was this egg-looking device that I had to sit in while it measured my body fat. So, I got there and tried it out and it actually was pretty cool. There was a little bit of a suction sound a couple times during the test, but overall I didn’t feel anything too weird. Has anyone else tried it?

Here’s a pic from my experience too:

Well, today I finished my fourth and final workout for the Hard Rock Challenge. I have to say that today was probably the hardest workout I did this week. It’s probably because I was the most tired and fatigued that I’ve ever been. Today I worked biceps and back, which are two of my weaker body parts. It didn’t help that I only got a little over 6 hours of sleep last night too. I had a difficult time with all of my bicep workouts, which included barbell curls, incline dumbbell curls, and preacher curls. I did fairly well my back workouts, especially my bent-over rows.

I’m taking a few supplements to help me out during my workouts, but I’m not sure if any of them have kicked in yet. I thought Gakic would kick in a lot faster, but I don’t think I’ve noticed any performance boosts. But, this is only my first week of using it so I’ll keep at it and update you guys on how it works out.

I’m taking the supplements advised by Muscle and Fitness for Month 1 of the RHC, but I’d like to get your input on if these supplements are what I should be taking. I’m pretty new to weight training as well as using these types of supplements. Take a look at my profile for a complete list of what I’m currently using.

Overall, my fatigue this week was the worst in my legs after my squats/lunges/leg press workout this past Tuesday. I still feel fatigued in my legs and it’s Friday. lol The rest of my body feels pretty good. I’d like to work my abs more, but the RHC workouts for this month don’t seem to focus on them much. I also need to get in my cardio over the next three days. I usually like to run outside, but it’s been raining alot here in Colorado so I’ll probably get it done on the treadmill.

Well, that’s about it for now. I’ll upload some progress pics I took today when I can find the cable for my camera to download them. Hope you guys had a good week in the gym and thanks for all your words of encouragement! =)

Hi all. I started this blog to record how I’ve been doing in my workouts and diets. I started the Muscle and Fitness Rock Hard Challenge this week and things have been going pretty well. The diet is insane, but overall I’m having fun with these new workouts and they are very challenging. Day 1 was chest and triceps and I don’t think I’ve ever worked these body parts harder than I did on Monday. Day 2 (Tuesday) was legs, calves, and abs and my legs are still burning from that workout. After taking a day off on Wednesday, I came back and did shoulders, calves, and abs today. The shoulder workout was pretty tough, but I really enjoyed the calves and abs portion. I think my calves and legs are definitely easier to work than my biceps and chest. I fatigue really fast doing biceps and chest. So, after today’s workout I’m eating my egg whites, oatmeal, and a banana for breakfast. I did my post-workout protein shake and creatine too. If you guys have any tips that would help me get through this challenge I would greatly appreciate it. I’ll post weekly progress pics too. Hope you guys have a great day and I’ll keep you all posted on my progress.

Later,
Steve
