Reflections & ramblings

Sunday, September 17th, 2006

Well it’s been a few months since my last show & i’ve had some time to reflect.  I won my pro card in 2 different natural organizations at 24 years old… and that was a lifelong goal of mine, so it’s extremely rewarding.  It was not nearly as rewarding however, as my engagement to my lovely girlfriend Isabel.  She has been with me for 2.5 years now and has been nothing but supporting & amazing.  So that was amazing, what makes it better is the fact that i proposed to her with my grandmother’s engagement ring (she passed away last year) and I was left my grandfather’s wedding band when he passed away so it makes it even more special that we always have pieces of them with us.

My research is also starting to get going, getting good results back.  Right now my main focus is establishing 1) how much protein at a meal is needed to initiate protein synthesis, 2) what is the highest level of protein intake at a meal that is still beneficial in terms of protein synthesis, 3) and what level ellicits a response that lasts the longest?

Lifting is going well, i’m currently doing a short diet so that I’ll be a bit leaner when Isabel & I work the olympia expo.  My strength is really starting to come around.  Some of my recent best lifts…

-Squat: 455 X 3

-Deadlift: 525 X 3

-Incline Dumbbell presses: 130s X 8

My goals are to get the squat up to 500, deadlift up to 600, and incline presses up to the 150s for 6, but next year.
