Workout with Hubby

November 14, 2009

Decided to start Gethin’s 12 week transformation series…again.  Hubby actually agreed to start it with me. We will alternate from the home gym to the gym gym. Glad I didnt cancel the gym membership.  I only have barbells and a universal gym at home, along with every cardio machine imaginable.  Figure I’ll do gym 3 days a week and basement on just cardio days. Hoping to get some motivation from the forum posts here.

Back on the wagon

June 4, 2009

Well… my working out at lunch with coworkers for the fitness challenge backfired.  I got out of the habit of going to the gym and doing tapes is not the same as lifting weights. I am in terrible shape.  I feel fat and devoid of energy.  Went to go the gym today and found out my gym had moved locations! That’s how long it had been… :(    I did manage to find its new location and get started again.  Went shopping after and found raspberries for 10 packs for 10 dollars.  Maybe I’ll go on a raspberry and egg diet! Lord help me.

Fitness Challenge

March 8, 2009

I joined a fitness challenge on base last week that is sort of like the biggest loser.  I am part of a team and we weigh in once a week. We work out during our lunch hour. Its been hard getting to the gym in the evenings when i’m exercising during the day too. On Monday we jogged/walked about 1 1/2 miles. Tuesday was an intense TaeBO Abs workout. Wednesay was Pillates, Thursday was a Jillian Michael’s "Ripped in 30 days" tape, and Friday was a trail run/walk.  It was great working out with other people, but I really missed the gym.

Today was a 2 hour hike with my husband and kids in rocky terrain and hills with some easy rock scrambling.

I’ve lost 14 pounds since January 1st.  I wish it was more, but I guess its going in the right direction at least.

Finally over the Flu! Hiking Day

February 28, 2009

Today was my first day where I felt well enough to do so some moving.  I’ve had the flu for the last 2 weeks, spent most of my time in bed, and have really missed the gym.  I hope I have some muscle left.  I debated on heading to the gym today, but decided to go on a 2 1/2 hour hike instead. It was awesome.  I ran in sand and over rocks, climbed with my son and sat drinking water on big rocks overlooking the most amazing views, appreciating all that God put before me.  Boy did I need this day.  :)

Sunday Lower Body Workout

February 15, 2009

Today was awesome! I love lower body workouts.  Before I went to the gym, I poured over old Oxygen magazines to motivate me. Dare I hope that I could someday have a butt like the fitness models in Oxygen? That’s a long way off, but maybe, just maybe, possible. I am wondering if I need to be working lower body twice a week instead of just once.  I used the threadmill as a lower body workout too, as I squeezed my glutes and exaggerated my stride when I was walking on high incline.  I didnt run as much as I would have liked because my knee was kind of hurting.
M1: 5 egg whites with salsa and oatmeal with flaxseed and blueberries (Yikes I was full– not used to eating breakfast at all, but clean eating book said to have both egg and oatmeal);   M2: 15 bean soup and wild/brown rice (so yummy)   M3: 15 grain hot cereal with flaxseed and a little sprinkling of shredded cheese  ( I know cheddar not so good but needed the protein)  M4: Pineapple, salad with cucumbers, and tablespoon of natural peanut butter
It is really hard to eat protein every meal. I read all of Tosca Renos book yesterday and still managed to screw it up. I waited too long in between meals so only got the 4 meals.

I need to stay away form the gym tomorrow so I can get the rest of my papers graded before Tuesday.

Happy Valentine’s Day

February 14, 2009

Today I spent the day alone since hubby went snowmobiling.  I had a really good day. I started reading Tosca Reno’s clean eating book again. I went shopping for nuts and fruit and salmon (my favorite), then went to the gym.  The snow is dripping off the trees, and it was like winter was dripping away as I was driving back from the gym. I debated on taking progress picks but didn’t like the way I look today. I think my goal will be to take pictures when I am 150. I am 155 right now. Hoping to be less tomorrow. Have a lot of work to do the rest of this 3 day weekend, but thought today I would love me and focus on getting back into the right frame of mind. Its been a tough few weeks with emotions and stress running rampant. I was eating great during the day until about 6PM, and then not so great at night.  I actually ate a chocolate pop tart this week — I know — horrible!
Cooking 13 bean soup and wild rice for the week tonight.  Wanted some tonight but its got another hour of cooking to go. Bought lots of turkey burgers to cook tomorrow. I’ve been eating a turkey burger (just the meat) with yogurt and raspberries for lunch every day with salmon for mid afternoon meal at work.
M1: Quaker weight control high protein oatmeal, banana nut, with 2% milk.  M2: Muscle milk protein drink  M3: Handful of cranberry nut trail mix and a few pieces of pineapple M4: Apple and spoon of peanut butter  M5: Amy’s Spinach Pizza  M6: Baby greens salad with cucumbers and tomato & almonds
Good night, sleep tight Valentines!

Thank God its Saturday!

January 24, 2009

Slept in today. Weighed 157. Hoping I can lose a couplel more pounds this week. Watched a bunch of the transformation video trainer videos. Though about going to the gym to just do cardio, so I can be on the video trainer schedule on Monday. Decided to go for a hike instead.  I love scrambling up rocks and looking over the entire area. Even though its hiking, the uphill and rock portions make it a good workout.

M1: Eggs, bell peppers, green onion, turkey, cheese in a wheat buriito shell, M2: 2 15 grain toasts with sunflower butter, M3: vegetable & beef soup, M4: cucumber and baby green salad, M5:  94% fat free popcorn

Stupid knee

January 22, 2009

I tried running on the treadmill for the first time since my knee surgery.  I immediately felt pain so I walked awhile really frustrated. I tried jogging slightly differently and that worked. I was able to jog without pain if I didn’t raise my feet too high –more like scooting. I also had to jog with the treadmill on 15.  For some reason it doesn’t hurt on 15 but hurts on 2. I’m hoping I won’t wake up with a swollen knee tomorrow. I will have to continue raising the time I jog versus walking briskly. My shoulder and lower body workout was great today.  I love doing lower body.
Yesterday was the end of three weeks.  I was 159 today which was 1.5 pounds higher than last week.  I had gained 4 pounds from my cheat weekend, but lost 2 of those. No more cheating.  My younger sister is on a transformation journey too. She’s lost 11 pounds since Jan 1st and had managed to hit the gym almost every day. I must do better…..
Yesterday’s meals:  M1:trail mix cereal  & 2% milk, M2: Chicken 3oz, M3: Handful of almonds, M4: Protein power bar, M5: Bowl of Lentil soup

Todays meals: Muscle milk protein drink, M2: Herb& lemon chicken, M3: Almonds handful, M4: Protein power bar, M5: sunflower butter and sugar free rasberry preserve on two 15 grain toasts

Long teaching day

January 20, 2009

I had so much work that I didn’t even have time to think about eating. I’m exhausted and I think I’ll just go to bed early.

M1/0700: Scrambled eggs wtih lots of red, orange, and green bell pepper strips;   M2/3:25PM  one boiled egg (had to peel really fast after teaching my last class of the day and run off to a meeting);   M3/5:45PM  Protein plus power bar (after meeting);   M4/7:00 PM  (finally home)  Lentil soup

Feeling better

January 19, 2009

Went to the gym right after my last post today.  Did Back/biceps/abs.  Feeling a little better.  It is a gorgeous sunny day here in Colorado –shorts weather in the dead of winter.  I keep trying to convince my kids to go on hike with me, but they just want to play video games. I hate hiking by myself, even though the hills are right down the street. Wish I had a big dog for a partner, but my dog is a Havenese/poodle mix and stops and plays too much when I take him with me.

M1:  Muscle milk protein drink  M2: 2 boiled eggs   M3: (after gym) Raspberry crunch trail mix cereal with oatmeal and milk   M4: baby greens and cucumber salad;   Plan for Meal 5 & 6 ( chicken with veggies, & protein and fruit smoothie)
