Muscle Confusion and My own Confusion

Friday, January 30th, 2009

I have been trying new techniques to break my plateau.  Winter causes my previous surgeries wounds to hurt and my knees and back as well.  I have been trying various techniques including muscle confusion and some new tapes with various workout "specialists".  I am on to try yoga and pilates as I feel I can benefit from these as well.  I almost fell of my exercise ball laughing trying to do some weird contortion exercises fromone tape and found I am not as flexible as I thought I am.LOL.

I like to do very intense workouts as well as they push me more than running on the treadmill.  If anyone has advice for me on how to perform muscle confusion techniques it would be greatly appreciated.

Billy Blanks and Running

Sunday, January 18th, 2009

I have found that the combination of Tae Bo, running on the treadmill and heand weights and crunches on my ball are working well for me.  This year I plan to get my diet in line.  So hard when it is cold to eat light when you crave chili, and comfort foods that are basically no good fro you.

I plan to forge ahead though and win!

Back to It in 2009

Tuesday, January 13th, 2009

Travel, illness, writing deadlines and a teen getting her street legal status have swamped me with the inability to have any time to workout.  Tomorrow I am back with a vengeance and moving forward.

I hate the advertisements that come with the new year and all of the high drama of the latest fads.  Tom Venutto put out his new book on Burn the Fat Feed the Muscle and I highly recommend that to anyone who wants to cut through all of the BS and keep it real.  He advocates for exercise, eating right and rotating calories and workouts so not to plateau and he is so money about it all.  Common sense in the end rules.

I caught a few epsiodes of a couple working out together to lose 50-70 pounds each on some show on television and that inspired me.  If someone who is over 3 bills can run up a flight of stairs than me who is close to breaking the 2 bills mark can work harder!  I am also a fan of Ruby for her own show as she is trying so hard.

I know we all think we are normal weight sometimes and then every so often, months or years flash by and we baloon up and realize we have no idea when we got so heavy.  Good news is that we can always do a u turn and go the right direction.  Every day is a choice and a new opportunity to eat right and try.

I also firmly believe in the no pain no gain creed as if I am not sweating or sore I have not done all I could have for that day.  Even if I am in a flare of pain I no longer use that as a reason to go easy on myself.  If there is anything I have learned in my life is that anything worth having is worth working your ass off for.

I am ready to get the rest of this weight off and start my summer looking like a new woman.  My goal is to be under 175 by June.  I can do it…
