Stalled

Friday, May 30th, 2008

I am so tired of working out like an animal, eating clean and taking a month to drop 2 pounds.  It is so frustrating!!!!  I have heard about HIIT so I have been doing that too.  Do people have more success working out twice or three times a day to break through a plateau?

I am always starving between 5-12 PM.   Drives me crazy. Any suggestions would be helpful for breaking a plateau or calming down the hunger lion in the evening. I am like Seinfield with the cereal too in the evening.  Cereal is disastorous for me when trying to lose weight, even Wheaties and Grape Nuts as protein is the only thing I can eat with veggies and still lose weight.  Carbs put it right on me.  Like glue.

My new happiness is going to the movies and being able to resist popcorn and pop…so proud.

Insomnia and The Remedy

Friday, May 30th, 2008

I was given something to help me sleep as my insomnia and pain were keeping me up at night.I swear I saw fairies having a picnic on my bed in the wee hours of the morning.  Hilarious. Even funnier was trying to workout while feeling like I had been on an all night bender.  My trainer was laughing I was so uncoordinated.

Funny being in the gym and having a significant amount of weight to lose and feeling like you just crawled out of the bowels of hell to start working out.  Another women around my size had started a new training session and was practically in tears about the workout and how far she had to go so I chatted with her and commiserated with her.  She was making me laugh so hard about trying to get through the workout I almost fell off the frickin stepper thing.  Lifting weights while fast stepping is like patting your head and rubbing your stomach anyway.

I did reverse situps and was proud I did not fall off the machine! I ran a mile on the torture mill, I mean treadmill(LOL) and went home and crashed.  That med the pain doc gave me to sleep and relieve pain did me in. I am proud I made it through my session and even got out of bed after that.

I am off to see the premiere of Sex and The City!  Reward myself for working out so hard this week (every day!) I need to download some new music, tired of the Rocky soundtrack.

Honesty in Pictures

Tuesday, May 27th, 2008

I am posting my awful pictures to showmy progress and encourage other women out there like me struggling to lose a significant amount of weight.  Pain and medical problems and medications cause weight gain and like me I am sure others out there know how truly difficult losing weight or working out can be with a chronic disability, disease or after having a child. (or three!)

Somewhere under the mess is Stacey, former size 5 and gloriously fit and healthy.  I work out harder each time and long for the day I can pull those old size 5’s on again.  That day will come because I will never give up until they are on me.

Good luck to all of you fighting chronic pain and fatigue and for all you women wishing to be free from fat…I am on your side.  Back on the treadmill with me. As you can see, insomnia causes much fatigue for me, and here I am at 1 AM typing to pass the time as I cannot sleep at all even after Jurassic Park 1 and 2.

Pain in my game

Tuesday, May 27th, 2008

Having to run with chronic pain is exhausting.  I know sometimes I cry through it but am determined to stay on the damn treadmill.  It is so frustrating to want to lose weight so badly and have pain stop the progress all the time.

The people in my life often sabotage me with what they say.  "You don’t look any thinner" and "are you sure your working out?"  Just awful to absorb.   What’s worse is people offering me candy, doughnuts and cake when they know I am working so hard to get my body back in shape for my health not just for appearances. I am getting off these pain meds if I can drop some more weight.

I find I often have to not discuss my weight loss or body building with anyone except in the gym because people are so unsupportive and cruel.  I don’t care what they say though as I am seeing the results week by week.  I feel strong too.  I love that.  My kids see me trying so hard and they support it and that is all I need for a fan club.

I would like to meet some other women who also are losing weight and love body building.  If one more woman tells me that body building is gross or they will save the muscles for their man I will puke.  As if being out of shape is preferable to being muscular and toned… good grief.  So I will pass on the customary cupcakes and cake at work (people will have cake if someone dies I swear) and keep on eating my veggies and protein shakes and soon my hard work will come to fruition.

Training Goals

Tuesday, May 27th, 2008

I am speed walking, circuit training and running using treadmill.  I find HIIT works great for burning through any plateau. I sometimes need to work out 2 times a day to get results.  Eating lean meat, veggies and fruit works best for my weight loss too.  I want to be up to running 5 miles4 days a week soon.

My favorite exercise is the good ol’ bench press though.  I hope to reduce my abdominal fat more quickly and do more crunches more often.
