Today I decided I want to compete, but where do I start?
I have toyed with the idea for a while, I know my weaknesses, but I still think I can do it. So the question now is how to get there? when will I do it?
Looking at schedules for NPC events, there is one which is 15 weeks away, I don’t have a clue if it would be realistic to set my time line for that date knowing I hate my cellulite on my upper thighs and hips and still have my little tina the talking tummy which isn’t quite as small as i would like it to be.
I need tips, pointers and more so a realistic opinion on if this can be done… please advise!!! especially if you have competed before.

I am doing my first comp in November, and had to finally cave and go to a trainer. She’s IFBB Pro Figure, so after 1 training session, she assessed my bodyfat, weight, goals, training intensity, and dedication & gave me a time frame of 16 weeks, but I chose to take 6 months to prepare so it wouldn’t be such a stress on my body in a short amount of time.
I have a fitness background, though, and have been adhering to a fitness/figure-style diet consisting of 6 meals a day for a few years.
U have to decide first what you’re going for: figure, fitness, or bodybuilding. Your training is going to vary greatly depending on what you choose.
I’m sure if your training is hard and your diet is on point, you could compete. I’d definitely get pro advice on what to do the 4 weeks prior to competition, though. Especially for your first show.
Remember, you’ll need a suit, shoes, and if you’re doing fitness you’ll need music, a routine, and a second outfit 2 wear. You also have to register with NPC, if that’s who you choose to compete with, and register for the show ahead of time. It costs money, so get ready to throw some down! Lots to think about, but if you have the time to dedicate, and the right guidance, you could possibly pull it off.
I’ve also heard you learn the most from your first competition, so whether you place or not, what’s to lose? Sometimes you just have to go for it whether or not you’ll feel "perfect" by show time.
best of luck!!!!
