The Ronnie Coleman Classic… Who is going?

I have never been to a show before… but I was kinda excited to find out I will be tagging along to the show in April… The question I have is what all do they do.. what kinda things should I expect… and more so WHO is going to be there???

Good to see workouts have no age boundaries…

At the gym I go to there are a variety of people who workout… while most are young (late teens to early 30s) there are a few who are much older.. it is encouraging to see them working out, several in their 60s and even 70s… makes you realize that everyone should take the same consideration for trying to stay fit into old age…

There is one man in particular that I have come to know at the gym, he works out about the same time I do, typically on Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings and is a really nice guy… did i mention he comes in on a single crutch each time he enters the gym… he is rehabbing a hip and while he isn’t pushing the big weights it is encouraging to see him press through and to have made such gains over the past couple months… he is far more mobile than he was when he began proving that all adversity can be overcome with hard work and dedication..

A few weeks ago I was able to chat with him and share some workout conversation.. turns out he used to really enjoy powerlifting and still tracks it along with his son who lives out of state…. he has videos on some of the big guys lifting the huge weights i can’t even imagine and he shared one of these videos which has techniques and things on it with my hubby and I…. after watching I could see how he could have enjoyed it so much so today I was able to return the favor by telling him the Ronnie Coleman Classic will have some of his favorite events.. he didn’t even know that they had the show let alone that it was more than a bodybuilding show… so it was a delight to inform him and see his face light up.. you could see that blast from the past moment in his eyes…made the day at the gym worth it!!

Diet Day 1 - Success!

I was worried about getting on my new diet.. but after today I felt so full I couldn’t stand it and still was able to eat very clean over several meals and shakes…
The day went something like this:

Wake Up with Muscle Milk Cake Batter Protein Shake - probably one of the best flavors ever!!

an hour later - Heart Health Oatmeal with cranberries

Dessert Shake - Banana (small but a couple of gulps and good)

lunch - Sweet and Spicy Tuna

about 2 hours later - time to workout - Super Pump 250 and a 2 and a half hour workout

dinner - grilled chicken with 1/3 cup whole wheat pasta

i will polish off one more small shake before i go to bed… so far so good… i am sooo proud.. with the exception of the super pump 250 all is well.. the flavor i ordered isn’t my favorite flavor and will take some getting used to in that supplement.. but i felt the results of it just the same during my workout!!

And we’re off to the dieting races…

Today I have officially began the summer slimdown diet.. can’t you see the excitment in my post…hehe..  

I must say I am dedicated to 60 days of this so that my vacation will be one of the best in years with some of the cutest bikinis I have always wanted to wear.  I did kick off the day with a new protein which I must say was a nice treat, cake batter muscle milk.  So far far so good!

I will be adding Isopure Zero Carb Strawberries and Cream and Super Pump 250 to my daily intake as well trying to up my protein while tweaking my diet to a more clean diet line up.

My thoughts are if I can get through a week, I can do it!!

This morning was a quite gym

Have you ever noticed how much easier it is to get through your workout when there aren’t a lot of people in the gym?  This morning I was one of only 3 people in our gym through three quarters of my workout and because of that we had the music we liked and it seemed to fly.

I worked biceps, triceps and shoulders this morning, something that usually would take almost 2 hours with the wait for machines and dumbbells on a crowded day, insteady I shaved almost 30 minutes off my workout just because there weren’t so many people trying to work out. 

You don’t realize what an extra 10 to 30 people in the gym do until a morning like today - I guess everyone this morning had a case of the Mondays but I am not going to complain it helped me jump start my day!!

OMG… I DID IT

Yesterday I was at the gym and going to do chest day….I have been working hard to up my weight for some time with the goal of eventually being able to lift 45s on the smith machine.  While I realize this isn’t a lot to most people it is the most of any girl at my gym….

With some help from the hubby so I didn’t kill myself under the weight I was ready to try and with that loaded the bar and was ready to try.

It was slow moving but I managed to finish a lift with 90 pounds of weight and whatever the bar weighs on that (as I know since it is the smith machine there is popular debate as to what the actual weight of the bar is)…

Not finished with my little lifting free for all… I repped it out 2 more times then moved over to the flat bench where I lifted 105 to follow up before starting my regular workout.

I was soooo happy and the rest of my workout was awesome as I worked out with 35 on the smith machine on each side of the bar doing bench and 25 for incline and then did all my free weights and dumbbell presses…

It was awesome!!!!
