Wednesday-January 16, 2013-More Rain, 1-mile walk, Tabata Improvisation, and an Offer!
Today is yet another rainy, but beautiful in its way, day. After yesterday's rather wet workout, I was glad that today was a walking day! The problem is that it rained throughout last night and this morning. While it was possible to walk and run yesterday out there, a 1-mile walk was all I could complete today. I decided that I would improvise a Tabata workout in the place of the mile that I did not walk. I took six elements from my full bodyweight workout and did them within my Tabata framework. If you want to try it, I have posted the workout in the order I did it. If you have a Gymboss timer, you can program it to time your workout. Anyway, that little workout got the old ticker working pretty good. I figure that this was more than I was scheduled to do. Tomorrow I will hit the full Tabata workout and cardio. This is good because I suspect, with one more day of rain forecast, that running would not be possible.
Today has been a busy day. Before doing my walk and workout, I was out at the grocery store picking up some odds and ends and then off to pay a few bills. After the workout I also had to give my stepfather's nephew a ride home. I am also washing all of those grungy workout clothes from yesterday. LOL!
I was checking my yahoo mail account after everything was done and saw a message with the subject line: "Your Fitness Transformation." I thought it was someone with some general questions about what I did to get in shape. It turned out to be an offer to feature my transformation on another website. I checked everything out, including the website, and everything is legitimate. So I guess I will get another small bit of "publicity." LOL!
Funny thing is that I have not been in top shape in well over a year and this offer and the November "Over 40 Transformation of the Week" both came when I could look better! LOL! I will be fixing that in 2013! I am not horrible, but know that I can be better. I am still humbled by the attention and hope that it helps to motivate others. I will keep everyone posted.

- Stretching Regimen
- 1-Mile Walk
- Tabata Style Workout:
- Quasi sit-ups 20 seconds (feet under bed/chair, knees up, sit-up to about 30-45 degrees; keep back about 1 inch off the floor)
- Rest 10 seconds
- Push-ups 20 seconds
- Rest 10 seconds
- Reverse Crunches 20 seconds
- Rest 10 seconds
- Crunches 20 seconds
- Rest 10 seconds
- Bodyweight Squats 20 seconds
- Rest 10 seconds
- Bodyweight Calf Raisers 20 seconds
- Rest 10 seconds
- REPEAT again for a total of 6 minutes.
