Tuesday-December 4, 2012-First 3-Mile Run Cycle 30? NO PROBLEM!
Rose late again this morning! I did NOT sleep well last night! It has been unseasonably warm over the past few nights. Last night was really warm and I could not get to sleep. I still was up around 5:45, caught up on the morning routine fairly rapidly and then did some paperwork for my folks that had to be done. This meant a late workout start.
I hit chest and back today. This was the first time I have used dumbbells in the back and chest workout in months. The reps felt great and my chest felt pretty good after the workout. I pulled out the resistance cord to do some low back rows to finish off the workout. I also got over the second cardio hurdle today---getting in that first 3-mile run! My goal was to get it in at 20:00 or faster. I felt GREAT throughout the run and was surprised to find that I had a good deal of stamina and strength during the run. My legs felt very good! My fears about not being able to finish the run, once again, were unfounded. I finished the run in 19:57 (6:39 mile pace) and was very happy with that. I also knew that I could have run faster. I think the Tabata workouts have really had a great impact on my overall cardiovascular fitness and endurance. The point today, however, was to get it done. My second and final 3-mile run of the week is on Thursday, the day after LEG DAY! I am not expecting much since I am introducing 40 yard traveling lunges into the leg workout on Wednesday. I suspect that the old man will be pretty sore on Thursday! LOL!
I will truly be happy just to finish the 3-miles!
Tomorrow is, as mentioned above, leg day. Tomorrow I add the weighted vest and dumbbells back to my exercises and then go outside for a 3-mile interval run, interspersed with rope jumping, traveling lunges, and bounds! Sounds like FUN! LOL!
Hoping that everyone is having a wonderful Tuesday. The warm late spring temperatures are about to leave us and we are expecting rain and a high of only 52 degrees on tomorrow. That will, of course, after having such warm days, feel like WINTER! I will bundle up and get the workout done!
