I completed my first full workout of the week. I worked arms and shoulders. It was a great workout. My enthusiasm and motivation had been lagging as of late, but I feel that I’ve gotten it back. I had a great run today, another personal best for the three miles, 22:57.
Here is what I did today:
|
3 x 25 Hammer Curls 3 x 25 Overhead Triceps Extensions 3 x 25 Military Press 3 x 25 Upright Rows
3 x 25 Lateral Dumbbell Raises
3 x 15 Chin-ups
Cardio: 3 Mile Run |

were you able to do chin ups when you first started working out or did you have to build up your upper body strenth first??
I cant do them yet and lots of people say they are a workout basic, i guess i just need to get a bit stronger!

When I first started working out years ago, I could only do about 5 good chin-ups. What I did was do them every week, adding one extra to each set. I found I progressed pretty quickly in gaining strength. Start with one or two and when you feel comfortable add another. I try to give myself 1.5 to 2 minutes rest between sets.

My max chin ups is 7 (on a good day). They are so hard to do. I’m trying to build up to 10. Your upper body strength is impressive.

LOL! I don’t have to pull but 160 pounds. I have often wondered if I were a larger man would I be as "strong" relative to my size. I’m wondering also at my age how much stronger I can get. I’m looking at my planche push-up training and thinking I’m falling "behind" where I want to be. I haven’t gained as much strength in the tuck planche position as in other positions. I have reduced the training by one day to give me some recovery time and this has seemed to help. Hopefully, on June 30th, I can post a planche push-up video. Thanks for the comment, Bro!
