12 months of hard work…changed my life!!
I can’t beleive that it’s been one year already since I saw the light(!) and started bodybuilding. After so many years of running, cardio, and eating what I THOUGHT was a healthy diet, I figured that is how far my body will go. I sure wasn’t going to starve it , and there was NO WAY I could spend any more time in the gym(10-20hrs a week!).
Bodybuilding defintely changed my life(body and spirit) I feel great +young, but also find that the discipline and dedication help me in my professional and personal life. You are more patient and much more tolerant.
My biggest challenges are to haul myself in the gym after a 14hour day+homework with my son, etc, fatigue sets in, sometimes, you just wanna say:ok, I won’t go to the gym JUST THIS ONCE.(But I never did) Also, I get invited to many black tie galas and events where I have to attend as part of my job, and turning down a free $500 plate to go eat PB and a shake in the bathroom sometimes can break your heart!(but you have to do it) My trainer always says: if someone offered you cocaine, would you take it, just because it’s free?
Finally, travelling, which I do a lot for work can be a real challenge. It requires a HUGE amount of planning(hotel gym is to standards, if not, have to find one, where are the grocery stores, is there a mini-fridge, etc) Also, those “free” work suppers in fancy restaurants can be tricky…
Well, I’ve managed to find a solution to these problems, which lead me to this success so far(and I’m just beginning!). THANK YOU so much for supporting me, sending me words of wisdom and encouragement, and more. You’re a BIG KEY to my success!
It’s really not easy and so challenging, but I can’t think of anything more rewarding. You are all here because you also have seen the light about bodybuilding. WOW and I feel SOOO proud to consider myself a bodybuilder!!!

Hey congrats girl! You’re doing great and you look amazing already!
I couln’t agree more about the travelling making it difficult to stay on track. No matter where you go it’s always VERY difficult to obtaiin protein, made even harder by airport security not allowing food / drink etc.
…these are the obstacles we BB’ers must overcome for Greatness!

good willpower, but I think a fancy dinner just less or such would possibly be ok. steak or salmon is NOT cocaine….

Congrats! Great progress pics
I love what your trainer says about taking stuff because it’s free…that’s great

Yes, yes! You are an inspiration! You are a bodybuilder!! You look AWESOME!! I had no idea you had all those travel obstacles, wow. That makes it even more impressive.
You are my hero! lol!

Great post!!

Thanks everyone, glad this blog inspired you! I just wanted to specify that I DO try, whenever travelling to call ahead and make plans with restaurants to have grilled meat and healthier choices. However, sometimes, that is just NOT an option. If you go to a fancy schmoozy cocktail thing, the fat/sodium/sugar/calories are packed into mini-bites!! This is when you just have to say NO because there are NO other options…(you DO feel SO much better for resisting though)

Great transformation. Kudo’s to your dedication. I have a friend that does alot of cardio and complains about not losing the fat. I tell her to hit the wieghts harder. She doesn’t want to look to muscley. Oh well. I’ll keep at her though.

Fab entry- a great comment on the importance of those little (but big!) choices we make daily. You were right, we expressed similar sentiments in our latest entries- the wonder of online community. I look forward to the support we can offer one another in the future! Congratulations and great progress.

Awesome! Inspiring!
My husband and I got on the running bandwagon a few year ago. After I dropped 10 pounds I stayed same and was frustrated!!! I discovered bodybuilding last year, got a wonderful trainer and realized that running can be something I do if I feel like it. I don’t have to do it all the time, it’s just one of the many choices. I’m at a heavier weight right now, but clothes wise, I’m in stuff I wore 20# lighter. Total difference.

thanks so much for your comment. I felt like I was losing motivation for my upcoming competition…in this the most important FINAL week, but this site has been great for encouragement. The feedback really made my day! And wow, you’re progress is SO inspiring. I know from training the past 6 weeks how much WORK it takes just to get "a little toned up". I can only imagine the work it takes for a total body transformation, and I’m so amazed by people who stick to their plans and goals for YEARS on end. You look great!

I LOVED this post. You were right….it goes right along with my free fries blog!!! It takes it even deeper though. It’s true….would we take drugs if they were free? No! You are so right. Free does not always equal good! Great post!

Congrads! You’ve done a great job. I tried working out in the evening and would never do it again. That’s why I get up at 4 am. Your body gives out so much more energy in the morning, it’s amazing..:)
