This is actually pretty easy. Day in, day out - I dont feel deprived because I’ve found a reasonable substitute for every meal my family eats. For example, tonight I made a healthy veggie pizza from scratch for the family, I also had pizza - but on a cauliflower crust. When I make the family muffins, I make myself some keto muffins. I eat ‘cereal’, ’spaghetti’ (cabbage or zucchini) - basically anything out there I think I would be able to find a reasonable substitute. And it tastes good!
I ordered more protein yesterday - vanilla, chocolate and strawberry-banana MRM low carb. I love MRM whey in ‘natural’ flavour but unfortunately its very hard to find in Australia, but I’ve heard many, many good things about the low-carb chocolate flavour in particular so I thought I’d give every flavour a go (the place I ordered them from had a flat rate for shipping). I’m soooo looking forward to the package.

Well, you know how yesterday I was asking my abs to show themselves? Well I guess they heard me coz, for the first time since my two kids, I officially have seen the outline of the - much coveted - ABS.
So far I just have that center line from under my sternum to around midway to my navel. There is also a fainter line separating the top two of the eventual 6-pack
So I guess I have a 2-pack. I will take a piccie next week when hopefully I will have a bit more definition.
Interestingly, my weight on the scale has still not budged after I lost this initial 10lbs, but I’m okay with that. In fact, becuase I am seeing such huge changes in the mirror, I think I will put the scales away for a while and just weigh in once a week/fortnight. Whats the point of that number when what I can see is what counts

Well, the scale isnt moving but I’m looking a helluva lot different. My biceps are really peeking through with much more definition than before - not because they are bigger (not been working em! Damn study!) but because of much less fat. Today I was putting away the shopping and saw great definition just while picking up a 3L bottle of milk. Of course I then had to drop everything and go and flex in front of the mirror for 10mins, just looking at what other changes have popped up
C’mon abs! I want to see you!

wow - almost 3 weeks and no cheating. This must be some sort of record for me!
Unfortunately the scale isnt moving much right now, but that will change, I’m sure of it. I have to ramp up the exercise now I’ve gotten through my transition stage with keto. My body should be well and truely fat adapted and I am ready to get right back into it. In around 48 hours I will be sitting here feeling like a walking, DOMS-ridden, bruise

Okay, okay. It took 18 days but I finally phucked up a bit.
Not much - I didnt eat anything I shouldnt have - but I ate;
1) way too much
2) too much fat even for keto macros!
Its this damn studying I tell you! Plus I spent another hour of hard labour in the garden (digging post holes and raking in more manure) and I’m pretty sore from it TBH. And yes, I know. I’m making excuses.
Tomorrow is another day

I was hungry today. Might have something to do with the fact I spent 4+ hours digging in the garden. . .
I am going to have to drink heaps of water and distract myself tonight. I am studying for a mid-semester exam on monday and study just seems to go so well with snacking - it helps to keep me awake
I will have to resist though *sigh*

I cant believe I still havnt cheated!
I even made an orange cake yesterday to share at mums group today and didnt even lick my finger when the batter accidently got on it. I do want to start to experiment with a few ‘allowable’ treats - just for the weekend or something. Maybe a flourless, sugar-free cake? Or some peanut butter cups? Keto fudge? Really, the recipes are endless - and this way I can look forward to something on a weekly basis without having my macros stuffed up, or the post-carb-bloat.
I finally told the others at mums group about my insulin resistance and the diet I am on to control it. I didnt say, "low carb", "atkins" or "keto" - just said that I dont react well to carbs. They were interested but I made sure I didnt go into it much - I’m pretty passionate about my nutrition and training, but I know not everyone is interested in what macros are, etc
On another note - I made a low-carb pizza tonight. The base was made out of cauliflower - and you know what? It was great! Didnt taste like cauliflower at all. It was a bit soft though, I wish it would have crisped up a bit more, but the recipe is definetly a keeper!
And I was right - I drank a heap of water yesterday and the scale was down another 400g this morning! Only 400g more to go to my first goal!
