My calories are getting dropped this week - I’m making sure I’m eating adequate protein to maintain my muscle mass, but am dropping the surplus fats in a kind of PSMF. I will continue to drop the calories and up the protein over the week and see what sort of results I get.

And my oh my do I feel it. And look it. I am just soooo bloated, and not because I’ve eaten too much - its just the carbs. About an hour after I ate breakfast (raisin bran - oh the naughtiness!) my stomach swelled up. I guess this means two things;

1) carbs definitley dont agree with me (although I already knew that with the insulin resistance and all) and

2) I will have to eat clean at my bro’s wedding or else look like a strung ham in my dress for the photos.

Meh - thats okay with me. I’m looking forward to tomorrow and the eggs, shakes and spinach it will bring. I’m not sure if I have the guts to step on the scale though! :p

I think I’m going to carb up on Monday. I’m dreading it and actually feeling rather apprehensive about it. But I really need to know how I’m going to react to carbs. In 4 weeks I am going to my brother’s wedding and of course as this is a once-in-a-lifetime event, I am going to enjoy myself and have a cheat day. I would hate to not have any carbs all the way up until the wedding and then find that I bloat up like a balloon/feel sick/any other unpleasant side effect after having carbs on the day. So this will be my trail run on carbs, then back to SKD until the actual wedding day.

It will be 24hours of carbs and under 1300 calories total. I am trying for 60% carbs, 30% protien and 10% fat. Hopefully I can get the fats lower than that, but I may have a few squares of chocolate. I’m undecided as yet.

I bought a mini food processor today so I’ve been happily whizzing up creations for most of the afternoon. I’ve made chocolate-coconut butter, natural peanut butter and some totally decadent macadamia-nut butter. I love them all! I cant wait for them to run out so I can make more nut butters! Maybe sunflower-seed butter? Brazil nut? I actually set out to make almond butter but they had no raw almonds in the bulk section of the supermarket today. Looking forward to making the different combos though!
I also got a huge order of protein in the post - MRM Low Carb Chocolate, Vanilla and Strawberry-Banana. They are all *really* good and sh!t all over the ON 100% Double Choc I’ve been choking down for the past 4 months. My husband can drink the rest of that while I get to have protein-deliciousness They taste great in just water, which I think is one of the biggest sellers for me when it comes to whey. Plus its 22g protein and only 2g carbs per serve.

Bring on month #2. I will be well and truely fat adapted now so this month I am revving it up from 5 days a week of LISS to 3 days a week of heavy weights plus at least 2 more days of LISS. Maybe one of those will be replaced with a HIIT session but unsure as yet. As long as I keep progressing I am happy, if I stall out I will re-evaluate.

This month I will also have my first carb up!! I’m saving it for the weekend when my in laws are down - 9 days from now. I’m not going to go crazy - in fact I’m going to try to be as sensible as possible. I will plan it formally before the time comes and have everything ready for a clean carb up, apart from a small dirty cheat of course Gotta keep that sanity after over a month of eating to plan.

Better day today. Last night I had a big think about it and if I’m going to make motherhood, student life and my fitness goals all fit I have to rearrange my schedule. So, last night I went to bed early, then got up at early to workout. I finished before the kids got up so that is a better plan. Now I just have to figure out how to do my study during the day around the kids, rather than staying up until the wee hours everynight…

Somehow this will work.

But, something does have to change in this next coming month of keto. I am well and truely fat-adapted and really should be hitting the weights again. I’m having a problem organising life to be able to though. With the housework, kids, kindy/swimming lessons/dance lessons/speech therapy/library storytime/etc runs, plus my own study which is almost a full time job in itself. I know - excuses, excuses. I’ve got to figure it out somehow though. I WILL get back into proper training.
