Be honest with yourself. Take responsibility for being the cause of your unhappiness. It is the first step in creating the changes necessary to put your life back on track. Until you identify the source of the problem, you’ll be left with nothing but complaints and excuses–but no remedy.
Instead of saying "I’m fat" say "I overeat." Instead of saying I’m financially strapped, say, "I overspend." Being honest with yourself creates an "action."
At the end of the day, you have a lot more control over your life than you think. Stop being the victim and start being the hero….your hero.

Well, my 38th came and went and not much progress by any means. A 2% fat loss, a 3 lb. gain and that’s about it. Lifting the same amount of weight, running a bit more now and then due to my calf but not much else to elaborate on. Oh yeah…that darn mini-skirt. It fits! LOL. Giving that mini a go tomorrow and well, I’ll see what 38 brings on.

Darn time went by fast! What can I say? I’m at that crappy phase where I’m more fit than I was, however, the results have yet to come. It sucks! I’m going to keep at it though, I WANT to get back into my skinny jeans! They do go up the thighs and ass, thing is, it’s just not pretty! You should never show the farm like that! LOL.
I had time to head to the gym earlier than normal. To my surprise there were a couple of women there that were fit. Nice bulging muscles, low bf. One gal a little more fit than the other, the girls looked good though. I had a good workout today. Trained legs, focused on the quads and worked in some cardio. I’m not sure how I messed up on my training time concerning the 1/2 marathon, but I did. My client and I are behind by a good 3 miles. We should be up to 8 miles and we are only at 5. My calf is still a tender. I tried one set of calf raises and it did not feel good. As for the cardio, it didn’t hurt but it felt stressed. It was tight and so was my hamstring. I tore my calf some time ago training for another half-marathon. I can’t remember which one it was, I most certainly don’t want it to happen again.
4 sets of 15, 30 second to 1 minute rest.
Sumo Squats
Leg press
Hack Squats
Front Squats
Squats
Leg extensions
Cardio: 5 mile treadmill run

I don’t know how or when it happened but I stressed out my left calf and was limping around all day thursday. I took thursday off, decided to take a rest. I really don’t want an injury to keep me from running the 1/2 marathon with my client. Maybe, I’ve taken on a little too much runing a little too soon right now. I was horribly sore after my leg workout. With that level of soreness I should have taken a break from any lower body exercise. I finished off the rest of my back workout yesterday. Three sets of 15 with a minute to no rest.
Pull-ups
dips (since I was there might as well hit it)
dumbbell rows
stiff-legged dead lifts.
As for the cardio, I was cautious! Stairmaster: 2 miles, Precor: 1 mile. Attempted a 1 mile treadmill walk, however, my calf was giving me some grief.
Eating was okay. I started off counting calories but didn’t keep it up. Had some cocktails with a girlfriend later on that night. Catching up on some girl time!

A businessman had to leave out of the country due to business. He told his wife he’d be gone for the entire summer. Overseas he met this women and they had an affair during his stay. At the end of his trip, she suspected she was pregnant and told him so. An exam confirmed her suspicion. "I can’t afford this" she says to him. He has her write his address down and when she has the baby for her to send it to him with the word "spaghetti" written on it so he can send some money. She agrees and he returns back home.
Months go by, one day when he gets home he asks his wife, "was there anything in the mail today?" "Nothing important," she responds, "but you did get this strange post-card." She hands over the postcard to him.
Spaghetti! Spaghetti! Spaghetti!
Two with meatballs, one with not!
Send SAUCE!!

Went to the gym after rush hour, it had cleaned out considerably and I loved it. I’m unbelieveably sore, it hurts to think about it. It hurts to walk, sit, bend, every movement brings on some pain. I skipped the running due to being so tight and sore, I did non-impact cardio and jumped on the Precor. It is one of my favorite machines, however, my preference is the Stairmaster. Way too sore for that today. Maybe next week when this soreness subsides. I was a mile short on my cardio, I’ll make it up tomorrow. Trained back today.
3 sets of 12 with a minute to no rest.
Bent over barbell row (wide grip)
Lat pull-down
Straight-Arm pull-down
Reverse-grip pulldown
Cardio: 3 miles, Precor
Calories: Still not keeping track of the numbers, however, ate clean.
I was way too miserable to finish off my workout. I lacked concentration and focus and didn’t train my middle back and lower back. I’ll finish it off tomorrow. I gave it all I had today and I just didn’t have much!

Working out during gym "rush" hour is not my thing. However, my bed is holding me hostage in the morning! My day starts getting away from me and I find myself at the gym during the busiest time. I have no idea what this guy was on today. He was wooing and hollaring after his sets. It was downright obnoxious. Honestly, I don’t think it should count as an accomplishment if you are lifiting the entire stack of weights on a cable machine and only moving it about an inch to an inch and a half. It didn’t take long for all the girls to clear out of the weight section, those boys were taking over. I scanned the area and in no time I was the only gal with the boys. Hell, I wasn’t going anywhere, my 25lbs and I were staying put! I must say, I was a little turned on. Alone in a room with a bunch of men…..mmmmm…there is a God! Unfortunatley, no hotties around, no one I could have a mental affair with. Bummer! Funny thing is, there was this one white boy who was incline benching with a couple of 100lb dumbbells hitting one rep after the other. His chicken legs were laughable but the rest of him was impressive and most of all, no grunting required. The boys stopped their hollaring after his performance and I couldn’t help but laugh a little. Worked on shoulders today, on the heavy side. Heavy for me that is.
Arnold Press, 3 sets of 15
Dumbbell press, 3 sets of 15
Upright rows, 3 sets of 15
Lateral raises, 3 sets of 15
Alternating Front dumbbell raises, 3 sets of 15
Cardio: left gym to pick up son at football practice, jogged a mile a mile while they were wrapping things up. Returned to gym and ran 3.5 miles on a 1 incline.
Calories: Way better than yesterday, didn’t track the numbers. It’s a must, I know!

Well, my 24 day countdown has gone to S#IT! Travel, kids going back to school, allergies, and jet lag has been a bear! What can I hope for at this point? Hell, I guess just to keep moving and pick-up where I left off. I haven’t had a chance to come up with an actual workout, but I did hit the weights today and I have an idea of what I’m going to put together.
Day 12: no training
Day 13: no training
Day 14: 5 mile run
Day 15: 1 hr. weight training, Legs
Leg press, 3 sets of 15
Calf Press, 3 sets of 15
Hack squat, 3 sets of 15
Front Squat, 3 sets of 15
Smith Machine squats, 3 sets of 15
Leg extension, 3 sets of 15
Treadmill: 4 mile run, no stopping! Whoo-hoo!
Eating was crap during the day, not enough calories, high in fat. Finishing the night well, protein! Better day tomorrow.

I took a 4 day trip to visit family. It was fast and furious. It’s very hard to get a workout in when visiting family. There’s plenty of kids to tend to, the heat is absolutely exhausting and my allergies act up the minute I arrive in my hometown. My eating is even more difficult to keep in line. I’m hispanic so healty and my kind of hispanic family just don’t go hand in hand. Here’s a rundown and a quick catch up:
Day 5:
Worked-out legs
3 sets of 15: Romanian Deadlifts
3 sets of 12: Plie squats
3 sets of 12: sumo squats
3 sets of 12: squats
3 sets of 12: stationary reverse lunges
3 sets of 15: calf-raises
Day 6: 5 mile run at the lake
Day 7: Rest day, travel day. On the road for 6 hours.
Day 8: Took a 1.5 mile run with my sister to the river and back. Encountered the game warden who asked us what we were up to.
Day 9: Allergies, felt sick and feverish. Slept in, stayed inside and painted a bedroom in my mom’s home. Went for a 2 mile walk with my mother. I wanted to run, but she wanted to talk and Mom won!
Day 10: Tended to some family business, hit the road for another 6 hours to return home. Horrible night sleep.
Day 11: 1 hour walk on dinosour treadmill in garage, 6.5 incline. Too tired to go to the gym from the drive and hellacious nights sleep. Yes, I’m tired and I’m so glad to be home!

I had much better sleep last night than the two previous nights before. I did wake up a couple of times to a throbbing headache due to my allergies. They were at an all time high today or maybe it just felt that way since I am tired and feeling a bit run down. Yesterday was a good eating day for me, I consumed 1478 calories and exceeded my carb intake by 24 grams and my fat intake by 6 grams. Not bad. I was under my fiber intake by 3 grams.
Now, to say I am sore is a grand understatement. I wanted to behead everyone in my family! I was a little crabby over it so I isolated myself in my room and took a nap before I headed to the gym. My workout was much slower today. It included stretching inbetween exercises since I was very tight. Worked on chest and triceps.
Barbell bench press 3 sets, 20, 25, 30 reps (only pressed the barbell, felt too stiff and sore, elbow hurting some)
Close-grip barbell bench press (working on tri’s) 3 sets, 20, 25, 30 (no rest between reps, continuous motion, stretched my chest and shoulders between sets)
Cable Tricep press-down 3×12x60
Inclince Dumbbell chest press: 3×12x20
Dumbbell Tricep extension 3×12x20
Dumbbell Tricep kickbacks 2×12x10, 1×12x15 (burning out the tri’s)
My cardio called for some cross-training today. I worked-up a good sweat on the Precor for 20 minutes, got two miles in. Then I moved onto the Stairmaster. Spent another 20 minutes and covered another 1.55 miles. I wanted to die. Great things happen to the booty working on the stairmaster, but it most certainly is not for the faint of heart! Done for today, sleep and eat…that’s all I’m going to be up to until tomorrow.
