CRASH

I’ve never done a crash diet of any kind.  Whether it be Atkins, Cabbage soup or whatever else is out there.  BUT, I cannot say "never" any longer.  Bad trainer, bad…bad trainer.  LOL.

My step-daughter is overweight.  Not by plenty, but, enough to where you notice.  She’s very sensitive about the issue and for this entire summer she has not been open to having a discussion on the matter.  When her Dad tried, tears and upset feelings took over.

Well, her friend’s wedding is this weekend (something she’s been aware of all summer!) and guess who wants to lose 10 pounds in one week?  LOL.  It’s somewhat of a detox cleanse kind of thing, could get her moving in the right direction.  Now, let me tell you, don’t know how much weight she’ll shed with this crazy Sacred Heart Diet we are doing.  She didn’t get on the scale in front of me.  I hope she knows her number.  As for myself, I am going to the bathroom like a darn champion.  At one point, I didn’t even make it to the bathroom.  I was pissed!  No weight training until this madness is over.  Jumped on treadmill, took a walk for an hour on an incline, slow pace and worked up a fantastic sweat.  All-righty….. I get more soup today and a baked potato for dinner with butter!  Exciting, isn’t it!

Many, well actually not all that many years ago I was presented with a similar situation by my eldest daughter. She knew when this occasion was coming up and had procrastinated to the point where she had to bring the subject up and true to form tears flowed and daddy tried coming to the rescue.
Like your stepdaughter, she would not let me see the number on the scale nor would she let me take her measurements (I was a single parent at that time and no other female was around) but she did promise to follow a diet and work hard at losing weight. Everything old in the pantry and refrigerator was chucked and replaced by ultra healthy. Bottom line, she didn’t lose weight and ended buying a larger size special occasion dress – wait a minute – I ended up buying that larger size special occasion dress and I ended up losing some weight from eating all there ultra healthy food after she ended up moving into campus housing when she went to university.
I wish you much success with your situation.

I hate to be party pooper here, but I am concerned about the crash diet bit, especially for a young girl/woman like she seems to be. Yes, she wants to lose some weight, and yes, she admitted that maybe she can get the weight under control, but I think more important than her losing the weight with a so-called detox diet is learning the importance of moderation and daily exercise.

I just finished reading a book on anorexia and bulimia, and today I went onto one of the many disgusting pro-anorexia sites online. I had heard about them before, but this time, I wanted to see it for myself, and what I saw disturbed me, and was not too far from what your step-daughter is doing. She certainly is NOT anorexic or bulimic, but it does seem that crash dieting is where these diseases start for many young women–just have to lose X pounds in 10 days…

I wish you and her good health…
