Do you have some dog in you?

Can a man and a woman be friends with no strings attached?  No something-something down the road, only friends.  I wonder if it’s possible.  I’ve come to find, however, "friendship" with the opposite sex can be a slippery slope.  People push boundaries, men and women.  And so I wonder, are there ulterior motives from the get go?  "Yes, we can be friends" says Ken to Barbie.  What Ken does not say is, "I will befriend you, earn your trust, tell you jokes, pay you compliments and when you’re feeling bad about husband, family, boyfriend  or maybe a little drunk, I will cease the opportunity and ride you like a wild bull.  Afterwards, yes we can still be friends."  I wonder about the male species, the ones on the prowl under the radar.  A friend of mine said, "All men have some dog in them."  So I asked, "And you?  Do you have a little dog in you?"  He admitted he did.  And so the question begs to be asked, do you have some dog in you?  If so, what does the dog in you have to say?  Hmmm….just trying to understand the male species.

LMAO…Well said!! ALL of my best male friends…have at one time or another tried to cross lines! The worst is when they tell you they are in love with you…and your like, ‘WTF am I supposed to do with that!?!’ When you dont feel the same at all! lol

O.k. they all DEFINATLY have some dog in them…and then some!

What can I say?…God gave men 2 heads, but only enough blood to operate one head at a time.

Your blogs are the best! Yes, all men have some dog in them. The ones who haven’t crossed the line are just waiting for the right opportunity!

You can’t blame us for animal instincts!!

    WOOF!

I have a female friend who I don’t find attractive AT ALL! We could be friends. We could be great friends…

No strings attached, no velcro, rubber bands etc.!!

So I guess guys and girls CAN be friends as long as they are mutually unattractive to one another.

Belle I read your blog and I’d like to share my feelings on this matter. I am far from a saint and have exercised poor judgment in the past. I’d venture to bet we all have. I don’t think it’s a fair assessment to say all men have some dog in them. Women and men are opposites and by nature attractions occur and the attractions aren’t always mutual. Life experiences teach lessons and some of us learn from these precious experiences. I’ve learned to respect life and my fellow human beings. I find plenty of women beautiful and I can appreciate that beauty without invoking lust. There are other men I’m sure share my sentiments. Living healthy and keeping fit requires discipline. Platonic relationships are no different; one must have discipline over lust. Experience and maturity have made the difference in how I live. I do not possess any dog genes; I can respect and appreciate beauty in the opposite sex without letting lust or temptation destroy valued platonic relationships. That being said, there are some dogs out there and hopefully experience and maturity will have a positive impact on their lives leading to mutual respect for others.

Everyday when a guy gets out of bed , his main goal is to have sex, friend or stranger, if the opportunity presents itself, and if the attraction is there or isn’t depending on how desperate the guy…then we as men while do what we can to get laid. So yes every guy has a little dog in them.

Perhaps pversimplified, but I think there’s an element of truth to that. The difference is between the guys who let the dog roam free (so to speak) and those who have it well trained or keep it on a leash. Interesting choice of photo embedded in your post on this topic, btw. If all men have some dog in them, are you conveying anything about an inner animal contained within all women?

I agree with Muscle-Seeker 100%! To lump all men together in one category and say we are dogs is like saying all blonds are air heads. I actually don’t know any blonds who are airheads and not all guys are driven by their penis. I don’t wake up in the morning thinking about nothing but sex and I can actually look at a beautiful woman without thinking how bad I want to bang her. It actually takes more than a good looking package to get me naked and interested in making love. Many other factors are involved for me. Like Muscle-Seeker says….it takes discipline and something called self respect as well as respect for the woman with whom you’ve befriended. A sexual encounter no matter how good is over with and done fairly quick but a good friend is something you can cherish for a life time.

If you ever come to understand men then please let me know. I personally think all men have some dog in them, even my hubby it gets irritating at times but I love him dog and all.

  14. amrn65 Says:

I refrain from lumping people in a category…that just does not make sense to me…however, I can state my opinion that 75% of men have a little bit of dog in them…but the mature ones can show restraint…even when the vulnerable moments creep up.

  15. vmvbwozniak Says:

I wouldn’t say all men have some dog in them but I will say I do have a dog in me. However, this old dog did learn new tricks and is tied too a tight leash.

David Chappelle said it best women most desire in life is materilsim and for the man is a woman.

All People have some dog in them. There is no doubt about men but I know some women too…

  18. augiegus Says:

You know maybe it is just chemistry to a degree. I mean it has happened both ways in places I have worked where either sex gets attrated to the other just by being around each other daily. I have dog with a capital D in me but I like a laid back life so no dog at work, the gym, or any place I have to be day in day out that I enjoy and do not want anything to mess with my serenity at said place so yeah female friends aplenty. But out and about if a lady is not attached in a relationship to include religious orders what the heck I was born in the 60s and believe free love a good thing. I mean to be fair what is a guy (or on occassion gals) to do with unrequited love throw em a bone unless that bone is attached for someonelse.
