Seriously, why does this always happen to me???

Why is it that every single time I start working out and getting serious about it, I get really sick??

I wind up getting flu like symptoms every time after a week or two of working out consistantly…and I get derailed every time.

I was doing so well the past week or two, with my halloween challenge and then BAM! I’m sick AGAIN!  I haven’t been able to work out all week, I haven’t had much of an appetite  so I haven’t been eating properly…and I feel like everything is getting soft again.  ugh…I’m disgusted….I feel like any progress I was making has completely deteriorated all over again…total bummer.

Any idea why this happens?  When I say I’m sick, I mean like dead man walking…exhausted, head feeling like it’s going to explode, throat so sore, I can barely swallow, swollen glands, ear aches…

I’m feeling better finally today ( but I felt better yesterday during the day and then got really ill at night) not a 100% but more like 65% …should I workout?  I really wanted to up my cardio this week and take it up to 45 minutes to an hour becuase I was only doing 30 minutes (although very high intensity) last week.

Any advice??

In my case, it is because when I don’t work out and eat right, Toxins build up in my body. Working out and eating right flushes them out causing me to feel sick. This time around I am eating right first to get flushed out, then I will start to work out and see if it helps.

When you change your routine and start working out, your immune system drops. This makes you vulnerable to things like colds, flu, etc… Make sure you have a good multi, and listen to ur body when you start up. Keep working hard. it will eventually get better.

same thing used to happen to me as well. I think going balls out too fast shocks the body too much. Try to ease into it when you get to feelin better -

I would say the same thing if you don’t have you immune system boosted with a good multi vitamin supplement you will tend to get sick quicker especially when you first start or change things up. Even more so if you are in flu season and everyone around you in public is sick.

Hey snshyne.. this is extremely common so don’t think you are the only one.. :) as mentioned, any time to start training your immune system is effected.. it becomes less effective at fighting bacteria the more you tax your body.. it’s very important to get as many immune supporting vitamins as possible, a good multi-vitamin/mineral, antioxidants and tea’s.. (tea is the fun part) :) You should be able to do the amount of cardio you desire without the worry of getting sick..
Best of luck with your goals.. :)
