my first post!

well…where to begin….my interest in fitness began my senior year in highschool during my 6th and final track season when my coach told me i was doing the pentathalon for our sectionals that year.  he put me on a different type of regiment of training because i would no longer focus on strictly sprinting and triple jumping, but shot putting, hurdles, and high jump.  He set me up with the guys coach to teach me how to increase the strength in my arms, shoulders, and back.  Watching the muscles develop in my arms and the increase in strength made me long to see how strong i could really get.  My small 5 foot 2 inch frame grew bigger and more solid as the weeks went by.  However, a proper diet was not explained to me so my body became awkward to handle and to dress as the muscle and fat together began to put my weight from 115 to 140 over the course of 4 months.  Upon graduating i signed up for a membership at the local gym and began what would be the beginning of a whole-hearted obssession.  After lifting there for only two months, i was offered a job to work behind the front counter and over the years of meeting other members and athletes of all types, my knowledge and thirst for more knowledge grew.  I ran track, taught spin classes, became a personal trainer, and switched my college major to food and nutrition.  I have always wished to do a figure or body building competition but alas, no time with work and school…now, graduated, happily married to a man who shares my passion for fitness, good health, hiking, snowboarding, and lifting, i feel i have the time and the mind frame to prepare along with two of my close friends for a show next year in 2008….this blog is my way of keeping track of my progress and hopefully receiving info from others just like me!
