Are you what you eat?
I had an interesting conversation with my 17 year old step-daughter the other day. A conversation that many people seem to bring up around me lately. She said that she didn’t like "diets" because as soon as you went off it you would gain the weight right back. My response was, "really, you mean if you eat a whole bag of doritoes you will get fat?". She is absolutely drop dead gorgeous. She really doesn’t need to worry. However, it is just an example of how people think. It has nothing to do with being on a diet or not being on a diet. If you eat crap you will look and feel like crap. If you eat healthy you will look and feel healthy. News to the world. You can not go on a diet, lose weight, then go back to your old habits and think you will stay skinny. It just doesn’t make since. So why are people so surprised. It is a lifestyle! If you love how you look and feel, eating healthy is not a problem!

You are right whenever I eat the wrong foods I do feel bad and I tend to punish myself later in the gym. But, I digress what kids form in their diet and exercise habits will be the foundation for when they get older unless they won the lotto in the gene pool they will be overweight and there are a lot of them out there.

So many people don’t have this kind of common sense and it frustrates me to no end! My parents are ones who think they’re educated about diet, but then they don’t understand why they can’t lose weight. It’s because they eat junk in between healthy meals! LOL.
I know if I eat junk I’ll look and feel like crap. Sometimes I need the taste, though, so I keep it to a bare minimum.

Thanks for the post! Sounds like you were in the same boat that I am in now. I’m either an 8 or a 10 depending on the clothes but more often a 10. I want to get back into that size 6 dress…and yes i have a tape measure too

This is so true. It wasn’t too long ago that I believed being able to eat what I wanted was ‘living’ and if I were to convert to a clean diet I would be ‘deprived’ and be ‘missing out’. The truth is I have never felt more alert and energetic than when I finally got into the habit and adopted clean eating–no weight fluctations, I feel strong, my mind feels clear–THAT is living.
