Another day another intense workout

Thursday, October 16th, 2008

I love chest day.  I don’t know why, I just do.  It might stem from old high school workouts where everything revolved around how much you could bench.  Today was super intense.  I set my alarm about 15 minutes fast so that I could be at the gym when it opens, 5 am.  Normally on Chest/Abs day I’ll skip the abs if I’m running short on time.  This attitude may be why I have a soft midsection.  I HATE ab work.  Anyway I woke up really damn sleepy, but in the 15 minutes it took me to down my stack and get to the gym my focus was there and I was totally amped to push through some pain.  I started out on BB Incline and moved on from there.  It’s a really great feeling to hit some personal bests, and to have a trainer who I’ve never talked to before come up and say he’s impressed with the progress I’ve made.  So here’s where I’m at:

Incline BB Press:  135 x 12, 185×8, 205×7, 225×6 w/ a spot and partials

DB Flat Bench: 80s x 7 for 3 sets, 85 x 6 w/ pushups as a drop

Incline cable fly: 25s x 10 for 2 sets, 30 x 8 w/ drop to 20

Pec Dec: 120 x 10 for 2 sets, 140 x 8 w/ drop to 90

Tri Set of Abs x 3:  Reverse crunch to failure/ Side crunches to failure/ crunches to failure.

I came home and hit my post workout shake, and I’ll add some breakfast here in a minute.  I ordered my Purple Wraath yesterday so hopefully some BCAA’s will add to the progress I’m already seeing.  See y’all tomorrow.

Wednesday Morning Workout

Wednesday, October 15th, 2008

So far so good on sticking to my routine of working out weekday mornings.  I lost my log yesterday somewhere between the gym and work, but I’ve got everything in the workout logs on this site so I should be good to go. Anyway I think I’m going to keep a running blog of my workouts.  I’m feeling much better in the 2 weeks I’ve been re-dedicated to a healthier lifestyle and figure I want to chronicle this.

So I woke up at 4:55 today.  Downed my stack:  White Flood, T-Bomb, AST Multi, and some chromium.  And I was off to LA Fitness.  Today’s back day and I was pretty juiced for having my kid up all night teething.

Assisted Pull ups 4 sets of 8 w/ partial reps
Bent over BB Rows 4 sets of 6-8 @ 140

Lat Pulls behind the neck 4 sets of 6-8 @130 w/ drop setting the last set

Wide Grip Cable Rows 3 sets of 8 @ 165 w/ drop set on the last

Straight arm pulldowns 3 sets of 10-12 @  57.5, 65, 65

I then finished up w/ some interval training on the stairs.  They canceled my Wednesday morning spinning class.  Bummer.  I’m loving life right now.  I’m down 7 lbs over the past 2 weeks.  My lifting stats are going up and I’m going to add some Purple Wraath to the stack soon.  I hear great things about it and hope I will accelerate my progress.

New Supps

Wednesday, October 8th, 2008

So I started a new program for my supps.  I’m taking creatine for the first time.  I’m still loading, Higher Power that was on wheycheap.com, but I’m starting to tell the difference.  I’m also taking White Flood and T-Bomb II.  Already my strenght is way up.  My endurance is way up, and the focus White Flood gives is amazing.  I’ve tried NO Xplode, Vassive NO, and the Myogenix product and this is the best I’ve taken.  Like I’ve said in my prior post I’m finally commited to getting my diet right and supplementing correctly.  It’s funny that I’ve always been scheptical about the value of supps, but a week in I’m convinced.
