Six Time National Bodybuilding Champion
Success Coach
You’ve Done Everything It Takes to Build a Great Body So Do Yourself A Big Favor and Do Everything It takes to Present It Well On Stage
Practicing your posing is very important. There’s absolutely no doubt about it! If you are going to go through all the time and effort of dieting, weight training, cardiovascular training, and sacrificing a lot of the more enjoyable things in life to enter a bodybuilding contest, you should take a just a little bit more time and effort to make sure you present what you’ve created in the best possible manner.
I urged bodybuilders not to worry too much about posing on contest day until the it is the right time. Instead, I recommend that you put all of your focus and energy toward creating the outstanding big, full, muscular, and lean physique that you want to present on the special day. I suggest that competitive bodybuilders should not start posing until about six or so weeks out from their show.
At the six-week point, it’s now time to start practicing your posing.
When you begin your posing practice, it’s extremely important that you make sure you are hitting each of the poses correctly. I don’t care how many hours of posing practice you put into the presentation of your physique if you do not poses correctly when the day of your show arrives.
That’s why you must get off to a good start when you begin your posing practice. Hire a posing coach who lives nearby for personal instruction if possible. A posing coach can be any current or former competitive bodybuilder in your local area who you feel is experienced, qualified, and willing to help. You should also invest in instructional posing videos.
Take control of the quality of your posing yourself by taking still digital camera images and video footage. Before you get too far along into the practicing process, you should break down the pictures and video footage–just as a coach would break down his team’s play execution from game films. The couple of hours you spend critique your presentation at the beginning will save you a significant amount of wasted time posing incorrectly without even realizing you are doing so.
When you start to practice, schedule your sessions at a certain time each day just as you would your meals, weight training workouts, or cardiovascular training sessions. Start out by doing three or four 30 minutes sessions a week and build from there as needed. During the last three weeks, I would recommend that you practice posing every single day.
Be structured in your approach to posing practice. Have a consistent and systematic plan during every practice session. You should start with the relaxed quarter turns, move on to the mandatory posing, then to your 60-second routine (without music), and finish off with your 90-second routine set to music. Practice your posing in this orderly fashion every single time you work on the proper presentation of your physique.
Although you’ll only need to hold each pose for about five seconds during your contest, I would recommend that you hit each pose for 15 seconds as you practice. This way, you’ll build up the physical and mental endurance you’ll need to do the very best job of displaying the body you’ve worked so hard to create the very best when the pressure is on.

Don’t Assume That You’ll Look Your Best Without Some Physical, Mental, Emotional, and Psychological Adjustments Along the Way)
No matter how well you may think you are doing at preparing for your upcoming contest, you can never let up. You must continue working diligently and intelligently all the way up until the time you step off stage after the evening show.
You simply can’t take anything for granted. Nothing! You just can’t let up until the very end—and not a minute before it’s completely finished. You can’t waste valuable time due to complacency. You can never get back the time you’ve wasted.
There’s always more you can do. There’s always a higher level to achieve. When you consider staying focused, eliminating distractions, keeping the proper level of motivation, commitment, and perspective, weight training, dieting, cardiovascular training, posing practice, tanning, staying in stock with everything you need, preparing what you need for the actual show, making sure your “regular” life doesn’t get too of out whack, and somehow getting your mind right so can enjoy the journey (without enjoying it too much, if you know what I mean), there are simply too many aspects to the contest preparation process for you to let yourself become complacent.
I like to compare contest preparation to flying an airplane. Who cares how well you are flying the plane halfway through your trip if you make a crash-landing at the end of it?
============================================ =========
If you are determined to be one of the select, COURAGEOUS few men who actually step on stage and actually feel the tremendous FULFILLMENT of entering a bodybuilding contest, I want you to TAKE ACTION NOW.
I’ve outlined the ENTIRE contest preparation process for you in my 11 hour and 30 minute ULTIMATE Contest Preparation Audio Seminar Course. EVERY aspect of the process is covered so the only thing left for you to do is to . . .
. . . Commit, Execute, and Follow Through!

The Competitor Who Has the Highest Standards for What He Expects from Himself for the Longest Period of Time Will Win (All Other Factors Being Equal)
One of the toughest challenges of contest preparation is to keep driving yourself to a higher level throughout the entire journey. It’s easy to become a little complacent when you know you are already working extremely hard and looking really good. This is especially true when you are clearly head and shoulders above the rest of your friends and acquaintances (both inside and outside of the gym) in terms of dedication, discipline, and physical development.
“You are looking great! You are going to do really well!” or “Wow! You must be pretty close to being ready for your contest, aren’t you? How much longer do you have to go?” are probably just a fraction of the positive feedback being said to you at this time. Although their words are encouraging and make you feel good, you can’t buy into the hype. I willing to bet that every competitor who will step onstage with you at your upcoming contest is being showered with those very same complimentary comments as you read this paragraph.
As Bill Bradley, the former New York Knicks basketball star and New Jersey state senator, used to say, “There is always someone out there working harder than you are.” Those words prevented him from getting too full of himself and kept him always striving for a higher level of dedication. I have reflected upon his words as I’ve prepared for my bodybuilding contests over the years.
No matter how hard you are working to prepare for your contest, there’s always a higher level of work, dedication, discipline, and follow through that you can execute. There’s always one more rep you can pump out; five more pounds you can lift; one more calorie you can burn or one-tenth of a mile more you can travel during your cardiovascular training session; at least another meal you can eat exactly on time; or a few more minutes you can spend perfecting your posing.
But you will not strive for that higher level until you first do two things. The first thing you must do is realize that you can indeed work even harder and secondly, you must specifically identify exactly what is the higher level you are shooting for.
Look, it’s no threat to your ego having to admit that you can become even better at preparing for your show. Doing so doesn’t take away from anything you have already done up until this point in time. You just want to build upon what you’ve been doing until this point-in-time. As the saying goes “The tougher you are on yourself now, the easier life will become in the future.” You might as well be extremely tough on yourself now when you have time to make adjustments. That’s a heck of a lot better than wishing you would have done more the day after your contest, isn’t it? The pain you put yourself through now will lead to more pleasure for you to enjoy later.
Identify exactly what you must do to take yourself to the next level. This is where setting goals at the beginning of your day and week–and then assessing what you have and have not accomplished at the end of each day and week really augment your efforts.
How has your weight training been going–really? Have you missed any cardio sessions lately? Are you following through with your “Daily Disciplines” or are you rationalizing your lack of follow through by telling yourself “I’m ahead of schedule” or “I have plenty of time left to get ready for my show”? Be honest with yourself. This is not the time to tell yourself stories to avoid short-term pain or disappointment.
Believe me, the gut-wrenching pain of falling short of being your best after your contest is over is far more painful than the benign pain of admitting to yourself now that your efforts can be tightened up a little.

Six Time National Bodybuilding Champion

Many competitive bodybuilders simply estimate or “eyeball” the weight or measurement of their food while preparing for a contest. This method is fine during your off-season and can even effectively get you in “decent” shape. But, as the day of your show gets closer, you may run into problems.
For any “roadmap” to be helpful in getting you exactly where you want to go, you simply must know exactly where you currently are.
No matter what condition, degree of muscularity, or level of leanness you are able to achieve leading up to the last couple of months, you’ll need to gradually lower your daily caloric intake every week in order to get ultra-shredded.
The difference between a small white potato and a regular-sized one could be as much as 100 calories. The difference between one tablespoon of flax seed oil and 1 1/2 tablespoons is 55 calories. The difference between four ounces of chicken breast and three ounces is 48 calories. The difference between one scoop of VP2 Whey Isolate and one-half scoop is 50 calories.
You need to know exactly how many calories you are eating to know exactly how many calories you need to eliminate each week. When you are talking about 150 to 200 calories, there isn’t much of a margin for error. Estimating your portion sizes are simply not the most effective way to go about this critical dieting process.
Hey! You’re already putting all this time and effort into all the different details of your weight training, cardiovascular training, nutrition, and supplementation. Why not take the time to be as accurate as possible by weighing and measuring your food? I would suggest that you take this extra step for at least the last 12 weeks.

Skip La Cour’s ULTIMATE Bodybuilding Contest Preparation Audio Seminar Course Outline
Session One
Establishing an EMPOWERING Mindset Before You Even Start Your Contest Preparation Journey
(2 hours and 3 minutes)
Do you have the mindset of a bodybuilding contest CHAMPION? Or, the mindset of someone who will do “okay”? My first task on my way toward helping you become your very best—before I do anything else—is to make certain that you have the mindset of a CHAMPION. Your success—or failure—will weigh heavily on your mindset!
Your rules, beliefs, values, and standards will dictate you well you execute during your bodybuilding contest preparation journey. The challenge that the vast majority of bodybuilding competitors face is that they never even take inventory of them; never think how and why they were established; never track back to where they got them in the first place (and how credible that source was); and never evaluate them to see if they are indeed true.
Your “rules” are you opinions of what you think is possible and impossible; important and unimportant; true and untrue when it comes to your contest preparation. Your beliefs are significantly stronger than your rules. Those will be difficult to change unless they are really broken down and explained.
What you believe to be true—is indeed true. At least for YOU it is. I make certain that you have the most empowering rules and beliefs when it comes to contest preparation—or you will be doomed from the start! I VALIDATE the rules and beliefs that will help you become the very best you can be on contest day—and DEMOLISH the ones that will limit what you can accomplish.
The competitor who has the highest standards throughout his contest preparation journey will get the closest to being his VERY BEST on contest day. I make sure that your standards on what you demand of yourself are high enough to get you where you really want to go.
We all need to make CHOICES in our lives. The choices you make on your contest preparation journey and how you prioritize what is important to you are called your “values.” You will determine your values—but I instruct on the values you will need to become your very best when the contest day arrives.
I then take you through a series of interactive EXERCISES that will set the most empowering rules, beliefs, values, and standards in “concrete” so you will be off to an awesome start.
This is the foundation to greatness. Your mental foundation has to be rock-solid. And, I challenge the way you currently think to make certain your foundation is rock-solid.
The MENTAL RECONSTRUCTION that takes during this session is a tremendously important first step. Without a solid foundation, all of the very best strategies in the world that I present to you will NOT even accepted in the first place—let alone execute! Be ready to come to this session with an OPEN MIND.
===========================
“Thanks for this ULTIMATE Contest Preparation Seminar, Skip! The value of this information is above and beyond the investment. You have done an awesome job of explaining every detail of contest preparation in an easy-to-understand manner. I now have the certainty and confidence I need to WIN. Now that my mind is perfectly clear about what it takes to be the best, all I have to do is EXECUTE!”

===========================
Session Two
An All-Encompassing Overview of Your Entire Contest Preparation Journey
(2 hours and 22 minutes)
When you “Begin with the end if mind” with anything you want to accomplish, you will be more like to execute EVERYTHING you must do to become your very best on contest day. You will maximize your POWER during every single set; repetition; weight training workout; cardiovascular training session; meal; minute; hour; day; week; and month of your contest preparation journey. You will be physically, mentally, emotionally, and psychologically prepared for ANYTHING that will challenge you along your journey (And, you WILL be challenged).
I outline—in great detail—the physical (weight training; cardiovascular training; dieting; etc.), mental (striving for more; staying focused; locking onto your contest day vision; etc.), emotional (dealing with the ups and downs along the way; the disconnection with people that you may face; remembering why you are putting yourself through this challenge; etc), and psychological (overcoming self-doubt; overcoming self-sabotage; keeping things in the right perspective; staying in control and living in your reality; etc) CHALLENGES that you will face along your journey.
I tell you EXACTLY what is ahead of you. Then you, through a series of exercises, make DECISIONS as to exactly how you will handle them—long before they ever arise. You will DECIDE on what you will and will NOT do when those challenges arise during this session! Of course, I give you directives on the BEST way to handle those challenges.
With my guidance, you begin to establish “Daily Disciplines” or standards and tasks that you will strive to EXECUTE every single day—no matter what challenges you face—to become the very best competitor you can be. These disciplines include things like your meals; meal times; how much water you drink; training performance; posing practice; goal-setting; self-assessment; picture-taking, how many times you review what I’ve taught you on the mp3 audio files; and much more.
===========================
Session Three
Training and Eating Like a Champion During EVERY Single Phase of Your Contest Preparation
(2 hours and 40 minutes)
During this session, I get very specific about the training and nutritional strategies that will make you your very best when your show arrives.
I outline in great detail exactly what you must do every step along the way when it comes to your habits in the gym and with the way you eat. From off-season strategies; 20 weeks out; 12 weeks out; the final critical week; the day of the show; all the way up until the minute you step on stage.
During this session, I explain HOW you will train and eat at certain periods of time; HOW MUCH you will train and eat at certain periods of time; WHEN you will train and eat a certain way and at certain periods of time; and WHY you will train and eat a certain way at certain periods of time. I provide you with many different examples, charts, and graphs that you will use to create your own plan.
This is the session when all the planning gets done. You benefit greatly during your journey because all of the time and effort you put in during this session. You only need to put in the physical effort and keep your head on straight from that point on.
===========================
Session Four
The Final Week of Contest Preparation; Presenting Yourself Like a Champion On Stage
(2 hours and 23 minutes)
Many competitive bodybuilders mistakenly believe that the “final week” of contest preparation is when you “make it or break it.” That’s a “belief” that I totally DEMOLISH by the time we get to this session. In fact, I instill in you the belief that you are “bullet proof” because of all of the intelligent, efficient, effective, and hard work you’ve invested into your preparation.
The final week, however, is indeed important—especially when it comes to you being certain and confident about what you are going to be doing.
During this session, I devote a significant amount of time explaining in great detail the final critical week of contest preparation. I explain everything you need to do in the gym and everything that will enter your body (food; amount of food; types of food; water; minerals; supplements; etc). Of course, I explain exactly how, why, and when you will do all of this.
I also explain exactly what you must do to present yourself like a champion on stage. I break down the mindset and attitude that you must have to put the “finishing touches” on the physique that you’ve worked so long and hard to create.
===========================
Bonus Session
Student’s Questions and Answers
(2 hours)
You will learn from the many great questions that the other students in this course have asked Skip La Cour about contest preparation.
===========================
“Thank goodness you have taken the time to observe, record, analyze, and share your wealth of information with so many people at such a small investment. You have done the years of hard work and experimentation which has lead to a set of strategies that are the most effective and efficient. Six Time National Bodybuilding Champion

 Twelve weeks seems to be the standard amount of time that many bodybuilders invest while preparing for a bodybuilding contest. But where did they come up with 12 weeks as the right amount of time? Isn’t that just a number that has been passed down from bodybuilder to bodybuilder over the years? Shouldn’t the length of time you spend getting ready for a show be determined by the level of muscularity and definition you are striving to achieve and/or the shape you are in when you start?
I believe bodybuilders who start “getting serious” about an upcoming contest only 12 weeks ahead of time waste a lot of time that they could be using to set themselves up for an outstanding showing. This is especially true when in comes to training. You have 52 weeks every year to pack-on some high-quality muscle. The more time you spent focused on building muscle—the better.
I understand that everyone has different goals when in comes to competitive bodybuilding. I totally appreciate the fact that different people simply want different things and not everyone wishes to become a professional someday. Instead, many people simply want to see how far they can push themselves and transform their bodies. Doing well in a local or regional contest—but staying within the context of what they define as a “normal” life—is their primary objective.
Let me ask you a question. If a person who prepares for 12 weeks goes head-to-head on stage with a person who prepares for 15 weeks, who do you think will probably win—if they both had the same level of experience, genetic ability, determination, and execution? If all factors were equal, the one who prepared longer would win, right? Well, that’s exactly why I start preparing a lot earlier than 12 weeks. I want to become the very best I can be and I’m willing to do the work and make the sacrifices necessary to become my very best.
Regardless of your short, medium, or long-range bodybuilding goals, you’d be surprised just how much more you can achieve with your training performance and physique’s development simply by raising the standards of what you expect out of yourself in small, incremental stages. You can start those incremental steps a lot sooner than 12 weeks and still keep your life balanced. You simply have to make getting more out of yourself in the time you spend in the gym, setting up your day, and structuring your eating plan more of a priority.
I don’t diet in a calorie-deprived state for seven months as I prepare for a bodybuilding contest. It doesn’t take that long to get in ultra-shredded condition if you work hard enough. I use a longer period of time to build momentum and try to create the longest period of time I can with 100 percent execution.
I start my preparation by doing things such as eating my meals on time, drinking a certain amount of water for the day, taking all of my supplements on time, building up my concentration and focus while weight training, and structuring a consistent Max-OT Cardio training program. As time goes by, I will take all of these daily disciplines to higher and higher levels.

===========================
TJ Carver

Session Two
An All-Encompassing Overview of Your Entire Contest Preparation Journey
===========================
===========================

Student’s Questions and Answers
(2 hours)
You will learn from the many great questions that the other students in this course have asked Skip La Cour about contest preparation.
===========================
“Thank goodness you have taken the time to observe, record, analyze, and share your wealth of information with so many people at such a small investment. The cost is priceless compared to the years of experience you have amassed. You have done the years of hard work and experimentation which has lead to a set of strategies that are the most effective and efficient. I’m certain I will get greater results in less time and absolutely no guess work. All I will have to do is follow your advice ‘to a T’ and work hard.”

Bodybuilding Contest Preparation SECRETS: Dealing With the Uncertainty of Contest Preparation
By Skip La Cour
Six Time National Bodybuilding Champion
Success Coach
I don’t care how many bodybuilding contests that you’ve entered in your life, you will inevitably encounter at least some degree of uncertainty that the strategies you’ve chosen are the “right” strategies. Relax! That’s all part of the game, so to speak.
It’s easy to understand why you’d feel uncertain at times during the long, involved contest preparation process. There are so many strategies out there to choose from as you prepare for your show, right? And, doesn’t it seem as though everyone wants to offer you their advice on what you should be doing and should not be doing–whether you asked for their advice or not?
With so many different directions to go, how can you possibly know for sure that the path you’ve chosen is the right path? You’ve invested far too much time and effort in your contest preparation to be going about things in the wrong way, right?
The truth of the matter is that you can never really know for sure if your hard work will payoff in the way you want it to. But, is there guaranteed success for any endeavor you take on in life? And if there was, how fun would the process be if you knew for sure how things would end up?
The first thing you must do is choose a good teacher, role model, or coach. Make sure you have enough faith in who they are and what they are all about. That will makes things a little easier when their strategies are challenged by articles you may read or “experts” you may come across during your contest preparation.
Then, you must give the strategies you decided to use your consistent and very best effort. Remember, just about every strategy can be effective if enough effort is poured into it.
You must stick to your plan once you’ve decided upon it. Switching back and forth from one strategy to another will accomplish nothing. Even if you do “succeed” you really won’t know which philosophy contributed your success. Another unfortunate thing about switching back and forth between different strategies is the knowledge you’ll rob yourself of attaining to become better in the future. You’ll find yourself with the same degree of uncertainty the next time you prepare for a contest unless you really work your plan until its conclusion.
You must learn to exhibit faith and patience while on your contest journey. No matter how things turn out, you’ll be better off over time by sticking to your plan and learning the pros and cons associated with it through your own personal experience–not by what others might tell you. Look, I know that everyone out there claims to be an expert and wants to thrust advice upon you but, to be honest, no one really comes close to caring about your success and failure as much as you do. So they give you some bad information? What do they care? It’s not their time and hard work that will be compromised!
Uncertainty during your contest preparation is a very common way of feeling–even for a competitive bodybuilder at my level. You must control your emotions and learn how to effectively deal with this emotion because it will never go away.
Chalk up your uncertainty to your tremendous desire to be your very best when you finally step on stage. Don’t view the uncertainty you experience along your journey as a weakness. Instead, you should see it as one of your most empowering strengths!
Friend to friend, I’ll openly share with you that even the best of us feel that way at times. You are amongst good company!
