Contest Preparation SECRETS: Taking Scheduled  Physique Assessment Photos During Your Contest Preparation 

Although It May Be Painful At Times To See the Way You  Really Look During Your Journey, You Must Take Assessment Photos Every Step  Along the Way.

Be sure to take pictures to document the  changes and improvements your body experiences during your contest preparation  journey. You should take pictures on a regular basis. Weekly physique assessment  photos during your last 12 to 20 weeks prior to your show will be tremendously  helpful tools as you strive to become your very best.

Sometimes you’ll  like what you see in the pictures—and sometimes you will not. These photos will  sometimes be rewarding, motivating, constructively critical, a boost to your  ego, fun, and mementos that you’ll cherish in the future.

But let me  warn you that weekly physique assessment photos can sometimes be depressing,  mentally taxing, emotionally draining, inconvenient, and challenge your desire  to continue as well. It’s up to you to use the photos and the positive and/or  negative feedback to your advantage. The chances are great that you will not  always be satisfied with the progress (or lack of progress) your physique  assessment photos demonstrate.

It will be very common for you to think  that your progress is actually much better than the photos reveal. Pictures,  however, do NOT lie. That’s how you really look. It’s your perception that lies.  Remember that it’s a lot better to find out what you need to work on 20 weeks  before a contest when you can actually do something about it than 20 minutes  after your contest when you can’t.

No matter how much of an  inconvenience physique assessment photos may be to take, invest the time to  follow through and take them anyway. No matter how painful or disappointing they  may be to look at, be sure you take them anyway.

Physique assessment  photos will help you become the very best you can be when your contest date  arrives. And, when you look at the photos a few months after your show, you’ll  realize then that you were much too hard on yourself at the time the photos were  taken.

Displaying your hard-earned development in the most complimentary  manner is very important when you step on stage in front of the judges at  contest time. Physique assessment photos are also a good opportunity for you to  practice your mandatory poses and show off your physique properly.

Invest in a digital camera with a self-timer. You should also buy a  tripod. That way, you will not need to depend on anyone else to take your  pictures. Believe me, it will be tough enough to stay motivated to take you own  physique assessment shots on a weekly basis. Don’t complicate the process even  more by creating the need to coordinate with another person.

Set the  camera on the tripod at the same position the judges will be doing their work:  Looking up at your physique about 15 to 20 feet away.

You should also  take the photos in as close to the exact same setting every time. That way, you  can make fair comparisons and better evaluate your progress. If you take your  pictures outside, try to take them at the same time of day. How the sun casts  shadows on your body will be important to the quality and usefulness of the  physique assessment photos.
