Commitment issues
I got my entry form for the Mid-Atlantic Grand Prix show in September. Still not committed to doing that show or any other show. I think I finally just got a little burned out on competing or rather on dieting. The last two weeks were supposed to be a pre-contest diet but that all went to hell rather quickly. After two days of fish and chicken I was doomed to failure.
Summer is NOT a good time to diet. I’ve been on a pre-contest diet over the summer for the last 4 years and it really sucks. No festivals; I miss all the family outings (although work has more to do with that than anything). No funnel cakes or brats. No big huge tubs of beer and pretzels. I’ve lost some friends over the years to contest dieting. Obsession comes at a price. Dedication is the word some people use. Use whatever word makes you feel better.
I think I’ll take my mom to Starbucks for a cup of coffee and a blueberry scone and discuss this further.

Morning Teresa! Reading that post really hit home for me. You’re right, obsession does come at a price, however, I guess in my mind I feel it’s dedications, but my friends and family use other words.
Being so new to competing, I can only imagine how difficult it is to diet during the summer. We just got back from Florida and let me tell you, I must have drank my weight in margaritas. I didn’t eat anything too out of the ordinary (well, yeah, I did kill 3 bags of pretzels during the week) it’s just all those drinks after not drinking in 6 months! Man, I feel like a fat you know what and I haven’t even hopped on the scale. It’s back on track today……..
I hope you’re doing well, I love reading your posts, you are such a motivaton to me!!!!!

First ,I would like to say That I admire your hard work and dedication. You have inspired me to get myself back in shape. I used to compete years ago(I am from Ohio too) I even won some BB contest back in the day..LOL But life got in the way and I lost focus , got lazy. But even though I did not work out or compete for years I always truley missed it. So I have started back training and I love every muscle ache! But what age has taught me it is not the destination …but the journey that I enjoy. Do I miss competition yes but do I need it ..no.Training and eating healthy is a part of my life not a 12,16 or 18 week cycle. you have nothing to prove enjoy your summer. You rock!
