4 weeks out

Saturday, February 23rd, 2008

Well my weight finally stabilized the past few days so I guess the weird water retention thing has passed.  Just got my new shoes in today so I’ll start my posing practice - again.  It has a different heel than my other shoes so it is throwing my balance off a bit.

I’ve tightened up considerably over the past few days as well.  Abs are all in full view now which I’m real happy about.  And over the past few days definition has finally showed up in my quads.  4 more weeks of this and my legs will probably have the most detail ever!

I’m still eating tons of fish, orange roughy.  I’ve found that in baking fish, less flavor is better.  I just sprinkle a little greek seasoning and some oregano and its good to go.  Last night was my cheat meal night so I had lunch at Applebee’s.  Nice 12oz ribeye, big baked potato and side salad (minus all the crap they put on it).  good stuff.

4.5 weeks out

Thursday, February 21st, 2008

It stills seems like a long way off, but I’m only 4.5 weeks out from the Northern.  My weight has been flunctuating pretty wildly lately.  147 one day and 142 a couple days later.  But my bodyfat has been continually going down; not as quickly as the first few weeks though.

I’m at about 8% now and my goal is 6% by the final week.  So I basically have 3 weeks to drop 2%.  On paper this looks pretty easy.  But in reality, well, I’m finally going to have to suffer a little in the diet zone.   Its pretty lo-carb except I have a hi-carb day every 5th day.  Actually its a cheat meal every 5th day which consists of steak/potato.  Big potato.

I have to get really super shredded up top so that my butt/legs come in halfway decent looking.  Plus at the northern, they put a premium on conditioning.  So we’ll see.

My Dog will be remembered

Wednesday, February 13th, 2008

I got a great letter today from a woman I know who runs a schnauzer rescue and adoption group with her husband.  They had seen the Tribute to Amy blog I wrote a few weeks ago and would like to use it on their website.

I can think of no greater tribute or remembrance to my Sweet Amy than that!

Valentine’s Day is Bull****!

Wednesday, February 13th, 2008

My husband and I have a lot in common.  One thing is that we both despise Hallmark Holidays.  Especially Valentine’s Day.  I remind him every year not to fall victim this silliest of "holidays".  WTF, why is it even considered a holiday??  Forgive me if I offend your sensibilities, but come on.  So anyway, sorry guys about your luck.  Most women have been programmed into thinking this is a legitimate holiday;  one where at least chocolate and flowers is an absolute must.   It seriously pisses me off to be inundated with ad after ad about this day.

My husband buys me flowers quite often so what’s the point of having a specific day?  I hate hallmark and all the  stores that push that crap 24/7 for a month!  Poor men.  They are the true victims in all of this.

We also think Sweetest day is stupid as well.

Enough of that.

In the meantime, I setup a photoshoot with Rick Lohre in March right before my contest.  Seriously looking forward to that as I have no really good pics of me since I’ve been competing.

Enjoy stupid Valentine’s day.

Dieting and Steak/Potato

Monday, February 11th, 2008

I had my weekly visit with my trainer/nutritionist today.  I’m still ahead of schedule for my march 22nd contest.  So for that I have been rewarded with a Steak/potato/salad dinner tonight.  Normally I’d have that once-a-week, but now I will have a big old fat steak every 5 days.  Along with a huge baked potato and salad.

Can’t beat that!  I had thought about grilling out a steak tonight but its  cold out there…..So this time we are going to Applebee’s.  Montgomery inn was ok last week, but I really wasn’t all that impressed with their steak.  Well, they are a rib joint, so go figure their strength is in their ribs.  The salad was really good though.  And unlike Longhorn Steakhouse, I got a nice big baked potato vs a child-size that they serve at Longhorn.

Life just got real good, at least for tonight.  It’s a nice break from all the stinking fish I’ve been eating for that past month or so!

Montgomery Inn

Wednesday, February 6th, 2008

The title alone is enough to make those in the know start to salivate.  Since today is my steak and potato day and last week Longhorn’s steak and everthing else sucked ass - We are going to Montgomery Inn.  Known for its world famous ribs they also serve a pretty good steak.  Or at least it always looks good.  I’ve only had the ribs and shrimp there.

I usually don’t log my workouts on Mondays because I’m with my trainer and he logs them in my book at his place.  But we did chest and shoulders.  Damn, I’m sore.  I haven’t gotten my chest this sore in a while.  Chest is definitely my weakest muscle.  When it comes to free weights the most I’ve ever benched is 165 for about 8 reps.  I’ve always wanted to get over #200 but I really don’t see that happening.  Mostly because there is no reason to, so I’ve no motivation to push myself.

I got my thrills building up my delts last year and doing sets of arnie presses with the #35.  That was fun.  My quads are pretty sore from yesterday so basically half my body hurts.  I think I’ll take a day off from the gym other than some personal training appts.

Getting back to contest prep…

Monday, February 4th, 2008

Its time for me to get over the funk I was in from having to put my dog down last week.  So its back to contest prep stuff. I’ll get my bodyfat checked this morning; visually looks like it went down but who knows.  Holding water and that couple extra pounds can throw everything off.  But overall, i’m still on track, coasting in.

I’m so on track, I think 7 weeks out, that I eat at a steak house once a week.  A huge steak, salad and big baked potato!  Now that’s my kind of contest diet.  But I have only my trainer to thank for that.  He totally nails my diet everytime.  Yeah - steak and potato once a week!  I look forward to that ’cause that’s the only night my husband and I go out.

Did I mention how much cincinnati sucks?  Its cold and rainy and city council still has their head up their collective ass!  That’s why everyone in cincy parties in Kentucky!
