Countdown begins….

Wednesday, December 19th, 2007

Not the countdown to New Year’s, the countdown to beginning yet another pre-contest diet.  Competing is a hobby to me.  Some people restore cars, some collect star wars stuff.  Me, I compete.  So I have about two more weeks of enjoying the finer things in life before I subject myself to lo-carb insanity.  Workouts are easy, having hi-lo carb days is out of control insane!

I most likely will continue my crossfit workouts until my trainer says otherwise.  He has been using the same format somewhat in my training sessions with him.

I’ll be doing the Northern Ky show.  This will most definitely be my biggest show and I look forward to the increased competition.  Last time I did this show was back in 03 and 04 when I competed in bodybuilding.  Figure is a dog of a different breed.  (no putdown :) ).    I’ll probably get my ass handed to me on a platter when all is said and done, but whatever.  I’ll just fix my weaknesses and move on.   The only weakness I have now is deciding whether I should eat another homemade chocolate truffle or buckeye.

A Nice Change

Friday, December 14th, 2007

Well, since my last competition back in October, I decided it was time to change my workouts a bit.  I switched over to more crossfit type workouts.  So far I’m really enjoying the huuuuge difference in my workouts.  Just for fun the other day I copied a workout my gym owner did.  It went something like this:

100 bodyweight squats
100 pushups
100 Pullups
100 crunches
to say I was sore the next day is an understatement.  It was really a cool workout.  During my pushups, towards the end, it was literally  2-3  - muscle failure.  2-3 muscle failure.  The bodyweight squats were kinda easy but my legs are still talking to me today.  As far as the pullups go - I did them on a weight assist machine.

All and all, very challenging; I enjoyed that and I’ll probably try it again in a couple of weeks to see if there’s any improvement.  A few people  told me that it was more or less a stupid workout and I’ve nothing to gain from it.
Yeah, well, whatever.  Everyone’s different.  So anyway, if you want something different, challenging AND get in a good workout give this a try.
