Mindset for PreContest Diet

Monday, May 28th, 2007

After finally deciding what show I’m going to do this year, I’m now preparing my mind to get into a contest diet.  Everyday closer to the start point means I’m a little more eager to get started.  I plan on doing figure at the Mid-Atlantic Grand Prix in September.  I did that show two years ago and competed in bb’ing, taking overall.  Now I’m going to see how well I can do in figure at the same show.

Its a fun show for those not familiar with it.  (but then they all are).  Wheeling is an interesting little river town and we had a good turnout for the show from cincinnati.  Very well run show and a great crowd added to the fun factor.  I  had the pleasure of seeing Fankhauser compete, along with his monster calves.  good times.

Freakin’ knee injury is back

Sunday, May 6th, 2007

yup, guess it never did heal quite right.  Along with some swelling I now have some weird feeling on the outer part of my knee.  No real pain just like something’s not right.  Sooooo…..it  totally screwed my leg workout today!  Tried to do some single leg extensions with just #30.  Not happening.  Had to drop it to #20 and even then I had to be real careful to angle my leg the right way as to not overwork the inside part of my knee.

This sucks….  Oh well, it could be worse;  I could have a total debilitating injury and be on crutches.  THAT would really suck!  I’m trying to get back into the diet thing following vacation.  I actually maintained on vacation but put on a couple of lbs since being back home.  I attribute it to the easy access to junkfood here vs where I was.

I’m in total disbelief everytime I walk into a Krogers and look at all the totally useless food they carry on their shelves.  Next time you grocery shop,  just check out other people’s carts.  No wonder we are one of the fattest countries.  I’ve looked into grocery carts with kids hanging on the sides and just think to myself, "they (parents), should be locked up for feeding that crap to their children".  Seriously.  Oh well, its called job security to everyone in the fitness/health world.  Yeah, thank you mommies for feeding your kids absolute crap so that they can seek me out later in life to help them understand why they are so fat and unhealthy!  Enough rant for one day.

Back to the Daily Grind

Wednesday, May 2nd, 2007

We just returned from a dive vacation in roatan honduras, so needless to say, no workouts!  Although there was a very very nice gym on the island, just couldn’t seem to get up enough motivation to go workout.   Two weeks away from the gym seems like a lifetime and I can’t wait to get back into it.  The first thing I did when I got back was get on the scale.  Weight is the same, although i look a little soft so i’m sure I lost some muscle over that time.

We have for the most part done all of our own cooking. Diet is as follows (disclaimer - not exactly a bodybuilding diet - do not follow this if in pre-contest mode )

#1 - cocoa krispies - 8 oz 2% milk, coffee and baileys
#2 - couple of beers
#3 - cheese dogs - 2-3 beers
#4 - chicken/rice, 2-3 beers
#5 - coffee and baileys
#6 - doritos, 4-5 beers
all beer is salva vida or imperial. unsure on carb count. We occasionally throw in a meal #7 which consists of oreo’s and salva vida. i guess you could call that a hi-carb day.

They actually have a kickbutt gym down here. of course its right next to the treehouse bar…..damned beer
