Winner none the less
A friend from the women’s forum won her first show yesterday! She seemed a little disappointed as there was only her and another girl in the show. It kinda reminded me of a similar story of another friend about a year ago. She did a natural show up in Michigan. She trained and dieted her ass off then wound up winning her class and overall!! But she was the only one to show up for bb’ing. She was disappointed and it took some seriuos encouragement to get her to hang up her overall winner pic on the gym wall. It definitely feels better, go figure, to win a show when you have actually been compared to several other people. But still, she showed up, met the requirements of the show and won!
Here’s what I told her and what I would tell anyone who doesn’t get full satisifacation from a win in a similar circumstance:
You’ve got a show, its open to everyone! Its in a major city and has been promoted. Maybe not promoted good, but still promoted. So here you have a show, lets say in Detroit, people coming from Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Indiana. As luck would have it, you are the only one in your class. I say celebrate! Yeah! Of these four states you were the only one who was in shape, did the contest prep and stood onstage for THAT show! So let’s look at this another way, between the four states you have like what, 40 million people? So you are now the only one out of 40 million people to show up and compete in your class. That should tell you right there that not only are you a very unique person, but a winner too!
So screw it if only one or none for that matter show up for you class. Doesn’t make you any less of a winner just because the judges couldn’t compare you to somebody else.

Good post. I really take things hard at first then I bounce back after talking to cool people like you.
I am at home in between the pre judge and night show for theOhio show. 8 in my class today. I’ll let you know the outcome? I feel real good about it and will not be so hard on myself with the results today. I will just try that much harder for next show.

hey, best of luck, although you won’t read this until after the night show.
