I found a way to stop teh big cravings.

My Dr put me on some expensive medication called ‘Meridia 10mg’. Meridia is a class of drug known as monoamine (serotonin and norepinephrine) re-uptake inhibitors.  It falls in the same class of many anti- depressants such as Prozac.  Serotonin is a chemical released in the brain after you have eaten a meal, which makes you feel full. When a nerve impulse reaches the end of the nerve (the nerve terminal), the impulse causes the release of chemicals called neurotransmitters.  The neurotransmitters are released in the space between the two adjacent neurons, this region is called the synaptic cleft.  Usually once the neurotransmitters have bound to their receptors (the neurotransmitter and the receptor fit like a lock and a key) on the adjacent nerve, transport proteins work to reabsorb the extra neurotransmitter back into the nerve terminal so that they can be reused. However, Meridia acts to inhibit the re-absorption of serotonin so the that signal lasts longer, thus giving the sensation that you are full for a longer period of time.  This method is thought to effectively reduce the caloric intake of an obese individual due to appetite suppression.

It is expensive and not covered by my medical plan here in Canada. It has really help me drop my appetite and start eating smaller portions. I do not get the big craving that I did before. It is a bit hard on the old blood pressure so you have to get that checked after taking it for a while.

I only used a 2 week supply and I lost 6 lbs. So far so good.

Exercise Ball

April 24, 2008

Well I finally got my Exercise Ball pumped up. Time to work the gut. Why sit in a chair and get fat when I can work the muscles. I hope it works. Maybe I will get into Pilates. Chest is looking good but I still need to burn the stomach weight off 

I am looking into a mountain bike for the summer; I want to do some biking this year.

Back to the Grind

Well, I have been doing allot more curls lately and my chest was pretty sore. I didn’t stop for a day or two like I usually do. I kept lifting each day. After a few days the pain went down and I can now see and feel a difference in my chest. Now if I can get rid of my big belly I will be doing great. Hope everyone else is do great as well.

All is well in my corner of the world. I have cut back on lifting and I am doing more cardio. Lost another 5 lbs as of late. I hope everyone has a great New Years and am I am looking forward to loosing more weight this year.

Work is crazy

My job has been busy lately so it is affecting my workouts a bit. I go visit a friend in the morning when I am off work. She has a set of weights so I lift while we chat before she runs off to work. I got into blogging on Google to help me relieve stress.

New way to lose weight?

Sorry I have not been around in a while but I have 3 wisdom teeth coming in. One is impacted and I cannot afford to get them pulled until November. So I have been in a constant state of migraines for the last week and a half. In all the pain and glory of my new found pain, I seem to be eating less as it hurts to bite down on one of my impacted molars.

The good thing is that I just lost another 8 pounds. Yeaaa!!

Update for my cool friends.

 Hey friends. Just a quick update. Everything is going well.  I am doing more sit-ups these days and I can feel my stomach getting tighter and organs moving back to where they belong.

 

 Work has been ok; things are getting busier all the time. That’s the fun of working with Microsoft I guess.

 

 I hope everyone one else is doing well also.  You are all looking great from what I have been seeing.

I am trying to get some pictures up but I have been having PC issues and my camera is not transferring the pictures over.

Getting there….

I went for a hike with my son the other day up to Bridal Falls, just outside of Chilliwack,British Columbia and I lost 5 pounds on the hike. It felt really good to get out in the mountain air and go for a hike. I don’t do that enough even though I am surrounded by mountains. I hope to have more pictures up soon. I notice my cheat is moving North now, I feel good about that. Still trying to lose weight and gain muscle at the same time and having fun doing it. I have just increased my weights again to make it more challenging.

July 24th is my bday!!

Well I am 37 as of tomorrow, I was looking into buying some new weights and I hurt my shoulder trying them out. Now every time I work out my right shoulder kills me. I think I will take it easy on my bday and get drunk and play God of War!! Dam addicting video game. I hope everyone has a great day tomorrow as well.

Too much pain for a lap dance!

Well last Friday I found out why everyone says it is important to work out all your body parts. You see when your young and destroying your body by partying and smoking and eating junk food, you do not realize how many muscles you have. As a teenage boy you seem to have 2 muscles. The one in your head and the one in your pants.

When you grow up and start to exercise and working out you find out just how many muscles you do have. On Friday I found my quadriceps muscles. Ouch!! The pain was so bad that I was almost crippled over the weekend. I tried to do what all gym teachers tell you and ‘Walk It Off’, just made it worse. So I had to take it easy this weekend. I am doing a full body flush (http://www.health-n-energy.com/cleansesmart.htm) so I don’t feel like the weekend was a total loss.

We will have to see what this week brings.
