Weight up - Waist down

Monday, April 28th, 2008

Last post I said I was not doing great with my diet, but great in my workout.  Well, I did my Monday morning weight in and I gained a pound over the week, but I looked in the mirror and thought I saw some improvement, so I measured my waist - down a 1/2 inch.  So who cares what the scales says!  We finally replaced the battery in our fat tester and I was at 21.8%, the lowest I have been since I’ve kept track over the last year or so.  Much lower than I was 5 pounds lighter.  I took it several times to see if it was how I was doing it, but the results were all low, some even lower than the 21.8%.  Wow!  That is so encouraging.

My workout this morning was not as great as last week, too many interruptions.  I forgot my chart so I could not remember the weights I had been using and often started way too low.  Oh well, tomorrow I’ll be more organized.

I’m starting the Body for Life diet in earnest today.  Well, I was going to until my schedule was suddenly changed on me and I missed a meal.  Thank goodness for Myoplex.  I happened to have one, or I wouldn’t have gotten anything to eat until noon!

I’m so pleased with the progress I had last week with the workouts.  I have more energy and a real positive attitude!  Now if I can get the diet and the workouts together I’ll be even better off!

Have a blessed week everyone!

Exercise - Great! Diet - not so great

Saturday, April 26th, 2008

I’ve been able to workout great this week.  No problems with old injuries resurfacing - it feels great.  I feel strong and in control of my body.   Two upper body and two lower body workouts and three ab workouts and lots of cardio.  BUT….the diet is not going as well.  Not bad, but not real good either.  I won’t lose any weight this way.  But I won’t get discouraged, a new week begins tomorrow.  We’ll do our workout scheduling for the week on Sunday, and I’ll add more diet planning, that should help.  I do have a question for anyone willing to answer.  How much protien should someone eat per day who is interested in losing fat as a priority and gaining muscle as the second priority.  I’m pretty new at this and the diets I have read have been mostly for serious competitors, not for the average person just wanting to have a toned, healthy look.  Any help will be appreciated.  Have a wonderful day!

My first post

Sunday, April 20th, 2008

My husband, son (20 years old) and I started the Body for Life challenge today.  Really, I have already begun my transformation.  I started approximately March 07 and lost a lot of weight and started exercising more.  I got stuck in September of 07 and have stayed there.  I gained 5 pounds recently and it really motivated me get back to work and to reach my goal!  I’ve re-lost those 5 pounds and have begun a much more rigorous exercise schedule.  I’ve begun interval training in my aerobics and lifting again.  Now I’m going to try the Body for Life exercise schedule for 12 weeks.  The diet I have been using has worked great for me, so I’m sticking with that and just adding more protien because of the weight lifting.  I just uploaded some photos - one of me at my highest weight, and a couple current photos.  I’d love to hear from anyone who has recently been on the same journey or is on this journey now.
