Rocky Quote

Tuesday, July 28th, 2009

I found this quote in a bodybuilding.com article and thought it was great… off the movie Rocky:
Let me tell you something you already know.
The world ain’t all sunshine and rainbows.
It is a very mean and nasty place and it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it.
You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain’t how hard you hit; it’s about how hard you can get hit, and keep moving forward.
How much you can take, and keep moving forward. That’s how winning is done.
Now, if you know what you’re worth, then go out and get what you’re worth.
But you gotta be willing to take the hit, and not pointing fingers saying you ain’t where you are because of him, or her, or anybody.
Cowards do that and that ain’t you.
You’re better than that! TAKE WHATS YOURS!!

Wondrous Winter Vege Soup!

Tuesday, July 14th, 2009

This healthy soup is a great alternative to salad on those cold winter days! Add chicken, turkey or protein of your choice to make it into a delicious meal.

Ingredients:

* 1.5L Vegetable stock

* 2L Water

* 2 Medium size parsnips

* 5-6 Carrots

*3/4 Cup Chopped leek

* 5 Small Kumara (Sweet potato)

* 2 Zucinni

* 1 Whole celery

* 3 tablespoons of herbs of your choice (eg. coriander, pasley, garlic.)

Method:

Rinse and dice all vegetables. Combine all ingredients except the kumara and zucinni into a large pot.

Cook pot on an element for approximately 45 minutes on high.

Stir, add the kumara and zucchini. Cook for another couple of hours, or until all vegetables are soft.

Enjoy! :)
