I have the same issue with wrist and straight barbell curls. My experience has lead me to go two weeks on the straight bar then two weeks on the ez curl bar. It takes a lot of tension off the wrists. Might help your wrists too.

I really get angry when I'm trying to use a machine and someone is prolonging my wait time, because they are talking on their cell phone, maybe walking 15 ft. away while their stuff is still on the machine. Insane!

I really don't know what my make-up is, but I can tell you that it probably is skewed, because I like to do long-distance running a lot, but I also like to do sprints. When I was in college, I did my fair share of bodybuilding while still being a 400m/200m sprinter, and even earlier this summer I was doing 11-13 miles for my long runs (now 7 is my easy run) and still lifting full-time. I think that next time I'll probably get 5-8 with 265.
                          -->   Interesting stuff.

I do close grip exclusively when it comes to benching. It's odd to me that you can do 245 for 8. I can do 300 for 4, but 275 for only 4 reps. I can only ever rep 270-290 4 times, but I can rep 300 for 4. There are 4 main muscle fiber types. Slow, moderate, fast, and ultra fast twitch. The typical ratio in human beings is 24% slow, 38% moderate, 29% fast, and 9% ultra fast twitch. My ratio is clinically estimated at 19/34/30/17 which means my muscles shut down all of a sudden when I overexert because fast twitch fibers explode with energy and can't sustain prolonged contraction. The ceiling for ultra fast twitch fibers for people is usually 12-13%. Beyond 15% is the stuff reserved for the animal kingdom. So it's really fun to possess stupid good sprint speed but it's tougher to rep heavier weight. Most people can do reps with 85-95% of their max but I can't.

I did not no that it was National chest day, but that is what I worked. Sounds like you had a great workout!! I just hope you had a post workout drink or protein shake before cardio. I always make sure that I feed those muscles as soon as possible. Doing 40 min of cardio is great as long as you had fed those pecs!! Also congrats on the personal best !! Keep up the hard work!

Great read. I'm new to lifting but your blog reinforces what I'm doing now. I always try to work the top of the chest first, then mid, then bottom. I want to have a nice balanced pecs instead of man titties. Thanks for posting and hope that your arm is feeling better.
