After 2 weeks back from vacation, it’s finally time to increase my calories and start trying to add some size. After my two shows this spring, judges comments were mainly to add size, so here I go. As difficult as it is for me to switch modes and eat more calories, here I go. I’m starting slowly, the past 2 weeks I was on 1475 calories (precontest diet still), I know crazy low, right? Well, this weekend Josh and I tweaked it a bit and increased to 1600, still not high but just wait, I’ll be back up to 2200 in no time! Great workout this morning, starting to lift heavier and feel much stronger! I guess I get to look forward to peanut butter in my mid afternoon protein shake….so that’s a good thing!!!

My first week after vaction getting back on track started off ok, but then mid week, I got really sick, training sucked and so did diet……couldn’t keep things down. I got right back on the wagon Friday and feel great. My workouts have been really good this week, I am so excited to feel my strength coming back, I’m even lifiting dumbbells I haved lifted in a LONG time, before contest prep. I feel so motivated this week, I keep thinking about my goals and how good it feels to have a focus. Things are crazy busy in my life, my husband and I are picking up our very first puppy this Friday AND we have our house up for rent, since we’re looking to buy. I’m so stressed, needing to find a house and we just can’t seem to find exactly what I want. I’m getting tired of house hunting!!! Well….I need to get back to work……..but I’m feeling GREAT!!!!!

Ok, so it’s time to get back on track with diet and hard training since I spent all last week chugging margaritas(no joke). Yesterday started out well, Josh and I had our usual Sunday breakfast together, which I haven’t had since before precontest diet. We have omlets with whole grain waffles w/chocolate protein powder mixed in…YUM! I went out for a run, 35 min outside, it felt good, then followed that by a 30min walk. After not really running outside for months, my feet, hams and calves were/are a little tight. Diet was on par all day yesterday…YAY!
Ok, so after a week in FLA, and trying to get back into ‘it’ whatever ‘it’ may be at this point, this whole week I’m going to keep on my pre contest diet (just for this week) and next Monday, strat increasing the calories and hopefully begin to add some much needed muscle! Anyway, the alarm went off this morning and we were at the gym as usual by 4am. Back day was great….I’m even starting to feel a little stronger, Josh advises: strenght WILL come back….SLOWLY, but it will. Back training was followed by 30 min. moderate cardio (15min elliptical, 15 min. rec. bike). I feel great, awake and ready to go. The goal for this summer: gain some size, increase my calories, watch my diet and try to (try is the word here) enjoy some family get togethers and weddings that we have coming up this summer. It’s difficult mentally to be so strict with my diet and then have to go to a family event or whatever and if I have a drink or two,….,.I feel like I’ve really messed up, or if we go out to dinner….I feel like I need to work 10 times harder in the gym the next week, so I know that is something I have to work out. Enjoy myself to an extent during off season and not beat myself up about not being 100% all the time with the diet part. Ok, enough………I guess I’ll head into work for my first day back after vacation….

Wow…..I am so glad to finally be home. After being in Florida for 10 days, drinking margaritas every night and eating dinner out….I feel so way off track. Josh and I did workout every day at the gym…and I even ran on the beach a few times. It’s been 2 weeks since I competed…it’s so hard mentally to realize it’s close to impossible to stay so lean and lead a somewhat normal life. On vacation, I ate things and drank things I haven’t had in 5 months….now it’s June 1st, time to get back on track, no more pretzels by the pool….no more grape smirnoff drinks, no more mango mango rita’s at Parrot Key. However, we had so much fun finally getting to spend time together all day long.
Josh and I actually got to sleep ‘in’ more than we usually do back home. We were up at 5am, started our workouts by 6 and were back at the condo on the beach chairs no later than 10am. We were in the sun all day until about 4, then came in and got ready to go out to dinner for some really good seafood!!!!! And cocktails too! Once night we went to the Greyhound Track and just broke even with our bets, one day we went shopping at the outlets, then took an Everglades tour. Our last night, we went to Parrot Key, had a lot of drinks, and I ended up dancing all night long on stage with old people. Seriously, Josh and I were the YOUNGEST ones there, but it was really fun! OHHHHH,,,,,,well, it’s almost 8am, I’m getting ready to head out on my Sunday morning run (which I haven’t done since pre contest started in December), then I’m back to cook our chicken and turkey for the week!!!
