training session

Saturday, May 16th, 2009

first training session in months…weight 147, body fat 35, BMI 26

Not in the best shape that i could be in but its understandable considering the way things have been going in the past few months…working till no end has left me AGAIN with no time to myself…i’m committed to switching priorities around as i have been meaning to for a while now.
there were also some good points that came out of it…such as, i’m in a 25 year old’s condition health wise when i was tested as far as cardio and heart rate…at 35, it seems like what i really need is to eat more and small portions of vegetables, fruits and proteins…which i have been doing.

i’m thinking of taking up a personal trainer for 12 sessions…does anyone have any suggestions to this?  it is a commitment issue…making sure that i actually commit to going to the gym to train and doing it right…the rest of the time that i go once a week will be dedicated to cardio and classes like yoga and strength training…i’d like to be there at least 3-4 times a week.

and having a trainer for 6 months may help me kick start the good habits…and the partner stretches were also awesome…funny, i’m a manager at work and call the deadlines and get people to do the work, but today, i was doing the work and being pushed…i needed that…help, anyone have suggestions?  i’m leaning towards having a PT…what do you think?  i want to commit to my health and fitness and having fun while i get my goals met.

be the change

Saturday, May 2nd, 2009

since my trip to the homeland over the holidays, until today, i have NOT steppped foot back in the gym…it has been a rough 4 months…because of the recession, people are getting cut from employment left and right, every week i hear that someone new has lost their job, at my place they’ve cut our total to half…which means, the lucky ones who are still working, end up working 3 or 4 times as hard to keep things afloat…and the inspiration one would need to keep morale high is challenging…it is so easy to become uninspired yet i have a couple of motivators who keep bringing me back up when i’m starting to fall.

this week, i kept trying to leave early to head to the gym but each time, more work would need to get done and that was considered a "quiet" day…so i am changing some priorities and putting myself first this time…the motivator is to get to the gym on a regular schedule as i had in the past.  work will ALWAYS be there and i work hard enough that i can be efficient in the amount of time i give myself…anything is possible.

and now that i’ve been able to pinpoint my weakness…with emotional eating, i’ve had that under control so much more and see the results.  i’m determined to have both training and good nutrition on my side again.  can’t wait to see and feel the results.
