SICK N STILL PUMPIN’

Tuesday, May 13th, 2008

Yesterday I was sick as hell … I’ve been feeling like crap since thursday evening and I didn’t know if I should go to the doctor or if this was just a little summer cold … When I woke up on friday morning I knew I had something much more than just a little cold … My throat was so sore and dry that I had to call in to work and I slept most of the day … I felt better when I awoke friday afternoon, but I still had a groggy feel … Friday night I loaded up on nightquil, alkaselaza cold plus, and theraflue … Saturday morning I felt pretty good, but I still had congestion in my chest and my nose was still running …

I’m not the kind of person to go to the doctor when I get sick unless I am extremely sick to the point where I can’t function whatsoever … Since I was able to walk around and eat a little, I classified myself as sick, but still pump ready, ya dig … So, I went to the gym to do legs … Friday is my usual legs day and I hate when I miss legs because I feel like I’m discounting my growth … I just recently started doing legs and I’m a firm believer in proportion when it comes to bodybuilding and I don’t want nothing lacking in comparison to something else … For instance, the dudes with the huge upper body, but chicken legs; definitely not cool in my book, so I must hit legs …

Suprisingly, I crushed legs hardcore … I started with the leg press (which is my favorite) and pushed up 1,080lbs four times after working my way up, already completing five sets of 8-10 reps of heavy weight … Then I did some boxing crunches with a 20lbs dumbell in between my feet, five sets of twelve … Very crusial when you’re sick ’cause your energy level isn’t where it’s normally at … Thanks to my wife for motivating through those sets (you’re f***ing awesome, BABY!)

Then my wife and I advanced to the smithmachine squat rack … I always do 5 sets of 20 with 315lbs, which is murder, but when you’re sick its even more gruesome … Snot was coming out of my nose and I was hacking up huge lugies after each set … Talking ’bout taking the life outta you, brother this was it … We finished squats and went to the hammerstrength individual leg curl machine and pumped those out … Completed calf raises, leg extensions, and more abs then went over to the stairmasters for cardio … My wife and I walked a countless amount of flights in 20 minutes on the stairmaster and I was exhausted … We both went and layed in the jacuzzi to get some relief from our trecherous workout … I started feeling a little better after the jacuzzi and I was able to breathe through my nose again … I showered and sat in the sauna and poured the entire bucket of water in the coal and got the most amazing heat rush possible … I breathed in deeply through my nose and exhaled from my mouth trying to meditate to beat this sickness …

Saturday night I followed suit with the cold medicines and sunday when I woke up I still felt worst then I did saturday night … Unf***ing believelable!!! I chilled with my wife and son all that day and watched movies and tru tv, which used to be court tv … (I love forensic files)

Yesterday was chest and I worked yesterday … I felt like crap all day and I didn’t get any sleep whatsoever sunday night … I didn’t put out that hard on the barbell bench, but I destroyed the dumbells … The pec dec known as the seated fly press, I took the weight to the basement (used all the weight) and pumped 12 reps for 3 sets … Finished out with weighted dips and went home and and did shoulders and the perfect pushup …

I don’t care if I’m sick, I will still pump … My wife knows I want my death bed to be a bench … When I’m in my casket I’ll be laying on a bench with dumbells in my hands … I was to put on earth to pump forever … PUMPIRONALL DAY

I WILL REACH MY GOAL

To some people having 20 inch biceps isn’t a big deal … Their like, “So what, you got twenty inches, who cares?” To me, twenty inches is stepping into a new class; another level … I listen to a lot of Hip-Hop music and the rappers are always talking about the size of their rims, usually 20’s or better … Just to think about your bicep being the size of rim is amazing … Think about it, TWENTY FREAKIN’ INCHES!!! COME ON MAN, THAT’S A BEAST!

This week I pumped hardcore w/ my boy Tony(He’s part of my team, BROTHERHOOD OF STEEL) … He’s 204LBS and maxes out @ 385LBS on the barbell flat bench … He’s a DISGUSTING MONSTER … Anyhow, we hit the weights so hard, that I’m still feeling the hurt so good feeling … Monday, we did chest and shoulders to the fullest extent possible … One of the shoulder exercises we did was vigorous … We layed on the flat bench and grabbed 20LBS dumbells (light weight because this is a crucial excercise) from floor and turned our hands face down and just raised them  up with our arms fully extended … This was my frist time doing this particular excercise and after three sets my shoulders were burning … (If you try it, make it the last thing you do because you will feel it)

Tuesday we did bi’s and tri’s and man, this was the day that I had to shine … We started out with standing preacher curls up to the max 130lbs twelve reps in each set … We did five sets … Then we moved on to skull crushers … We like to warm up with 10lbs on each side of the EZ Curl bar doing 20 reps … After we’re done with a set we do close grip bench press with the weight that we were doing until failure … We got up to two 25lbs on each side and I could feel my tricep rupturing, just being ripped to shreds and I loved it! We hit dips in between benches right after that w/ 45lbs plate in our lap … We started out doing 15 reps and would add a 45lbs plate each set and lowering the amount of reps, but never going lower than ten reps … I had five 45lbs plates in my lap and man, it felt so good that I wish we could have done six plates, but we had to move on … Then we did 21’s, which these are my favorite … We started off w/ 25lbs on each side then slapped on 5lbs on each side each set and after doing 4 sets we called it quits and moved on to hammer curls … We didn’t do the traditional hammer curls, we did them with the arm turned to the side and moved up like we’re trying to touch the opposite shoulder from the arm we’re curling with … Doing them in an inward motion gives you that bicep that pumps out on the outter part of the bi, rather than looking flat … Hammers work the brachii, the muscle in between the bi and tri … We started with 50lbs dumbells and moved up 10lbs each set and stopped @ 80lbs which is really good IF YOU’RE TRYING TO ADD INCHES TO YOUR BICEPS … We did the incline hammer curls and then the incline curls … After each set of incline hammer curls and incline curls we grab a barbell with no weight on it and half curl it (meaning we don’t let the arms go all the down after curling up) until failure … When you’re done you hold your hands up to your forehead and flex your biceps tight and hold it for @ least 10 seconds … You will feel a sensational burn! You’ll love it! Finally, we moved on to arm extensions, then cable curls …

The premier event of the night was something I’ve never tried before … I’ve seen plenty of people do it. I just never did … Tony and I walked over to the dip/pull up machine … Tony’s in all the strong man competitions @ our gym and he asked how many dips I usually do in a set … I told him I normally do 15 and he laughed and said 15 is for commoners … Then I asked how many does he want to do in a set … Tony replied w/ 30 or more and I was like, alright … I started and did 30, just barely getting up on the last two reps … Then Tony knocked it out the box doing 50 straight … I was like, “Ok tough guy” … Tony then brought the belt with the chain and I asked why did he bring the chain belt over … He said, “Time to go beyond citizen weight.” Our team, BROTHERHOOD OF STEEL call people that lift normal weight citizens … For instance, if you see a guy doing the standard barbell flat bench 225lbs for his max, and he weighs 200 or 225, he is a citizen … Not to carry anyone, but if you’re doing flat bench dumbells w/ 45lbs, you’re a citizen … Just a regular moe, you know … Don’t think I’m putting anyone that’s @ the beginning stages of pumping down, ’cause pumping is a process and everyone’s @ their own level … Be humble or get humbled, basically … Anyhow, I’ve never done the belt with chain and the next thing you know I’m doing dips w/ my 242LBS of body weight w/ a 45LBS plate hanging from waist … It was such an experience that want it to happen over and over again … My triceps tearing and just pure good feeling of pain … Not bad pain though, that good pain, you know … I did 10 reps and that was all I could do … I banged out another set and we hit the perfect pushup for 5 sets of 20 and called it a night … Dude, I’m telling you … If I stay @ this pace I will hit my goal by June … I will finally have guns … I know twenty plus inches is where its @, but I’m @ the beginning … I’ll be one step closer to 21inches, then 22’s and so on … Now I’m just a citizen, but hopefully in 30 days, I’ll be a BEAST …
