Habits

March 21, 2008

Hi, All

Sorry I delayed this post but I was running around quite a bit this week. I also increased my intake of the gym. I am a little scaried of that too much cardio is not always a good thing when you are trying to retain muscle. However I think that the small time that I spend working on the treadmill or elliptical machine will not canabilze too much muscle.

Meanwhile I am busy forming habits. Funny thing is that after over a month. Yes a whole month I have began to make working out a habit. It isnt even a conscience effort. Well it is but not its more like waking up to brush ones teeth or shampooing ones hair. It has just become something that I do.

What a great feeling. As promised I will post some progress pics I was very reluctant too, after my last weigh in. It seemed that my progress was all for not. Untrue I am sure that I have toned up a little and even If I lost fat only to gain muscle at least I gained muscle. I took my diet and tweaked it a bit. It wasnt bad but just a bit unrealistic. I found myself avoiding lunch meeting and forgoing happy hour just to follow a hard nocks diet. No I got a little help in that department and it seems that I have lost more than intially expected. Yahhh

Change

March 4, 2008

Holla Folks,

This Afternoon I decided to talk a bit about health and life. Sometimes you get to that point of no return. This can happen in your life, health or esteem. It is that point when you know that you can’t turn back and there is absolutely no turning around.

I had one of those moments today. I realized that I like my life when everything is in order and that I can not control everything around me but I can control myself. Maybe my body will not turn into the 100% gorgeous bod of my dreams but I can sure try. I remember a quote that would hang on the board of my high school history class.

“Reach for profection and you might just receive excellence”. That is what I tried to do in that class. Studying for every test, reading all of my assignments, and creating the life that I chose. I choose to live healthy…

Meanwhile I will say that so far I have lost a little over 3 pounds and am happy with my results but wish I lost a little faster. I have tweaked my diet to include 3 healthy meals.

One of which is my automated protein shake in the morning, and a healthy lunch which is normally a soup, homemade soup or store bought salad. I love to cook and soups are about the easiest thing every to cook. I can simple put all the ingredients in the slow cooker set it and wake up and the food is ready to put in Tupperware. Today was the first time I denied myself free food. It was good and greasy pizza. I know that would completely blow my diet away so I went to the meeting with my lunch and ate it in front of the others.

I also included snacks in between every meal. Fruit, nuts, cut-up vegetables like carrots and celery.

That’s it today I have to get back to work.

The Biggest Loser

February 25, 2008

The Biggest Loser

My job has a the biggest loser challenge and it just so happened to coincide with my healthy eating and healthy living challenge. The only problem with the challenge is that it is just 8 weeks and my challenge is for a lifetime. However it would be nice to best of the folks at my job and leave a lot of them in the dust as far as weighing in. I know how to eat healthy and if I stick to a sensible diet the weight will drop off. I feel bad for some of my fellow contestants because they eat some of the worst things and try to lose wieght. One man bought a whole tube of animal crackers, the other eats salads and cookies in the same meal, followed up with a sugary soda.

I want dearly to collect the 225 pot at the end of the challeng however I messed up. Yes I cheated which really sucks because it set me back a whole week. I was eating just fine, making my lunch and dinner. Having a protein shake for breakfast in the morning, when the monster of "free food" reared its ugly head. There is something about free food that does me in. I am now trying to get a grip when offered things like candy or cookies. However the idea of having a free meal brings out the inner cheapskate in me. Horrible I know and for training purposes I was offered free breakfast and lunch for two whole days.
We will not begin to talk about what was included in those free meals but lets just say that they had no part what so ever in my diet.

Nonetheless I havent gained any weight infact I have lost a whole pound. One week, one pound not to bad but I know that I can do soo much better. Besided that happy clean energy feeling is gone and left me feeling bloated and heavy.

The Beginning

February 18, 2008

Well here I am on BodyBlog…

I will try to keep this post pretty short and sweet. I am really trying to decide now when to keep account of myself. You guys at bodybuilding.com are so nice and everyone here is so encouraging, that I just know that I will recieve quite a bit of well support and accountability here.

Although I do not want to become a professional bodybuilder, I do want to tone up and get in shape. I also honestly want to do something for myself. I want to accomplish a goal and feel good about it. I also think that it will help me with my self worth and esteem if I create just a challenge to be healthy in general and what is good on the inside natural flows out.

I have already begun working out, and the energy and feeling that I get in the middle of a work out when I am pushing myself and body is great. I will not begin to compare my body to others or feel that I need to become a size 2 because that will only disappoint me and hinder progress.

Normally in the morning I take a whey protein shake with soy milk and some sort of fruit such as a banana or berries. This is my routine and the only nonvariable in my diet. I normally eat a soup, salad or some sort of stirfry with protein such as tofu, chicken or lean beef.

I have also learned to cook and cook some sort of healthy dinner in the even, chicken, beef on the rare ocassion pork. Love lamb and veal but it is kind of expensive so tofu is a good and cheap meal. Eat organic when I can mainly beef, chicken and pestiside ridden fruits and veggies. I eat a clean diet and have done so or attemped to do so for a month now, ie no fast food. Recently cut the carbs and that has made the difference. Now, the only time I have wine, sweets or bread is on an outing with my boo.

I think from now on I will post a blog and weight changes every week and pictures…oh that is a hard one and as of now I dont have a full length mirror. That is something that I definitely need to invest in well how about every 4 weeks that way I can keep myself accountable and still see progress.
