Rollercoaster Ride

Just curious…do others out there prepping for competition feel like they’re on a rollercoaster ride?

I mean, one day I’m feeling great, on top of the world looking down, knowing I’m gonna do fine, ready to take the plunge, and the next, I’m down there thinking "No way I’m gonna be ready.  How in the world am I gonna get up enough speed to make it up that hill?"

Mentally, today is a good day.  I’m thinking I’ll be fine.  Physically, I’m worn out.  After two cardio sessions on Saturday, cardio yesterday and a leg workout last night, knowing I get a day off the cardio tomorrow, I’ll take just making it up the hill today.

Just got back from cardio…tried the stairmaster first.  After 15 minutes, realized I needed to do something else as I couldn’t get my heart rate up where it needed to be…just didn’t have it in me.  So, I thought I would try something different…the treadmill…haven’t been doing ANY running and really miss it.  Didn’t think I could run today so I started walking on incline.  Got the heart rate up and didn’t feel too bad.  Mixed it up with some sprints, and light running.  Nothing spectacular.  Just getting it done was good.

Will take it easy the rest of the day…go tan, maybe grab a cup of coffee, do some reading and then work chest and back tonight.  Tomorrow will be a light day…abs and lunges…then back to it on Wednesday.

I can do this :)

Shannon you are going to do very, very well - you don’t have anything to worry about. Practice the posing, you have the physique to win, don’t let the posing be your downfall.

I see a 1st place tropy! But, at this point nothing is more important that practicing your posing! If you do it right it will be similar to a work out itself. You have the physique…pose and go get ‘em, girl! Bring it home and show it to us!!!!!! LOL

Now here are two goofy things that I have found work wonders for the times when I’m feeling flat or down. First, I would suppose that the day after you do not do any cardio, you feel like a million bucks. I always feel flat during my cardio days, but that first day off, I feel full again. Second, for a quick fix of instant pump and vascularity…..(I know this is weird and I have nothing scientific to back it up: just experience) I take three tablespoons of liquid amino acids. Ten minutes after…I for some reason, will get that seriously full-muscle sensation for a good hour or so. It’s just enough to raise my spirit’s and serves as a good reminder that yep, I’m not looking so bad after all.

WOW! You are ready for that first place win! I wish you the best of luck! I think that you will definitely take it! Thank you for sharing your contest prep, as I am looking to do my first competition Oct. or Nov. I look forward to hearing about your contest experience.
