19 Days Out, Input Wanted
Last night, the chairman of the show I’m doing called to confirm receipt of my entry form, make sure we were on the same page, answer my questions, etc…I didn’t expect that at all and thus, was impressed that he took the time
Learned that there are 8 girls in my class…sounds like a good number!
So…here’s something I misunderstood…I intentionally marked two classes on my entry form…"Novice Figure" and "Masters Figure"…both were on the Novice form and so I assumed both were Novice classes. Nope. The "Masters" is just that…not "Novice" at all, just us old folks AND the show for that class is Saturday night. The Novice show is Friday night. To save time the prejudging for the Masters class is being done Friday night. For me, that means Friday AND Saturday night shows. OMG!!!
All kinds of things are going through my mind…I was planning on being done Friday night…maybe go to the beach Saturday with the family…have a cheat meal or two…things like that.
So, what does that mean for my diet? How do I make sure I’m good for the Friday night show and even better for the Saturday night show?
What about the tan? Will I need to apply MORE on Saturday?
And then there are the questions I already had…do I apply the tan to my face or just use make-up? False eye-lashes, yes or no? How many coats of JanTana will I need anyway? How many days in advance will I need to start applying the JanTana? Ugh!
Deep breath….
I know I have time to figure these things out and to cozy up to the idea of getting on stage two nights in a row so I’m not gonna stress. But…input from those of you with experience would be helpful. Please share!

Hey girl! Well, according to your blog entry, the pre-judging for the Masters will be done on Friday night so it sounds as if the Saturday night show will just be for the audience as the judging will be done and the winner will most likely be chosen, however you never know for sure what the judges are thinking and sometimes if it is close they might want to make a final decision based on how you look Saturday night, it varies from show to show. I haven’t had to do a two night show but I can give you some input on some things! Regarding your tan, well it kinda depends on what methods you are using. Have you been tanning and are you dark? If not, get in the tanning bed or sun and get as dark a base tan as possible. The darker you are the less tanning products you will need and the better your tan will look on stage. JanTana is definitely the way you want to go. I have tried everything and my experiences with JanTana have been the best. I only have to apply one coat, but I get VERY dark in the sun prior to a show. I also get spray tanned prior in order to make the application process easier. The good thing about JanTana is that it washes right off in the shower without much scrubbing or staining to your skin. A lot of people start their tanning process days in advance and cant shower, but NOT me!! I actually shower the morning of the show and apply my JanTana that morning. It dries instantly and goes on very easily and even. I use a large cloth type makeup applicator that I purchased at the drugstore in lieu of the sponge provided. It just works better. I would say that if you apply your tan on Friday for the show you can chose not to shower for Saturday and just touch up your tan for the Saturday show. You can use a bronzing lotion to apply to your skin to even out the JanTana if need be. Dont be afraid to rub it in or touch it up, some of it will come off while you sleep and on your clothes but it can be touched up and evened out. You might even decide to shower on Saturday and wash it all off and reaaply it if you have time. Like I said it all depends on your base tan. Regarding your face, DO NOT apply the JanTana to your face. It will not look right! If you like you can take a small amount a few days prior and light apply to your face at night, but wash it off each morning for a couple of days prior to the show, that will just kinda give you an undertone without having the tanning process directly on your face. Use the JanTana stage makeup or take apply a bronzer to your base makeup to darken it. use a powder bronzer to darken your face on top of your foundation. You want your face to be a few shades lighter than your body as that is normal, but not too drastic. If your face is as dark as your body you will look very strange! Hope all this helps, you can PM me if you want or have any more questions. I would be glad to help where I can!!! Good Luck!!! You are gonna do GREAT!

Shannon, I agree with DLRey’s competition comments; prejudging is when the judges make the majority of their placing decisions. So, do both classes. Odds are better that you’ll get a nice trophy. And go ahead and have a couple of cheat meals on Saturday before the Saturday night show. From my experience, I look as good a week after a show than I did at the show, no matter what I’ve eaten.
