Been lifting strong 5 days a week for the past four months, but a pre-war injury (hyper extended elbow) has finally caused me to slow down. I haven’t lifted in two weeks straight hoping this will heal. Medics say it will but slow healing. I can have patience, just weighed in last week at 165 down from 175 and holding it for a few eeks now so i think my body is back in burning mode. Not gonna let up this time when I redeploy.

This phucker runs like a gazelle (BN Co), He took the bn (600 Soldiers) for 3 miles today in 21min. The whole bn pretty much fell but of course I had to stay, in order to prove I could do it. I’ve been hitting the eliptical all week for 20min everyday before hitting the weights so the run wasn’t that bad. You can’t substitute running for the elipticial so of course I’m hurting a little. But garsh damnit I did it. This was in fact the last bn run until we get back from Iraq.

Past two weeks have been tough for me to get to the gym. We’re getting ready to go down range again (Iraq) so load out and Soldier SRC is taking up a lot of time. We have to work later than expected so I tend to lose motivation and working out at 2000hrs doesn’t work for me. I can’t wait to get to Kuwait and start it up for real, no bullshitting then.

I started hitting the gym again, sorry CSM Parham not yours. Actually McGrath gym by popular demand, my Soldiers wanted me to go there so they hang with me and try to get that Maint 300 on their APFT. I started lightly this week with dips, pull ups and for cardio running every other day for 20min. My elbow feels better but I still feel it deep underneath so for now I will continue light until maybe it heals completely. Im ok with baby steps, my goal is to really be 30min on the tread, that’s all I want right now. Thanks BB stay with me.

Hello BB, I just returned from NTC (Ft Irwin, Cali). The MRE’s are horrendous and made completely of trans fat and that is what they expected Soldiers to live off of for the first and last week (NOT). The alternative was a gut truck, roach coach whatever that was expensively over priced, say about 20.00 a day for salads, sandwiches or whatever they had to sell if anything was left. I was gone 32 days and after the first week I was sure all my work with my weight and health was out the window. I managed to maintain my weight at 166 and my pinch factor was 23.8 (I think its lying). That was not bad at all and I’m actually impressed. I stopped lifting as I said I would and concentrated on abs as best I could. I have taken my meds up until today and tomorrow I’m getting rechecked on my elbow before I start lifting again. Well I’m glad to be back and hopefully I’ll be hitting the gym hard again (slowly).

Hope everyone enjoyed the holidays. I did fairly well on my weight, only gained 7 lbs but I feel fat. So it’s abs and cardio while I’m gone. I’m leaving for Ft Irwin for a couple of weeks. I’ve decided to take this time and rest up on the elbow and take my meds. So no lifting this way I can get back to full force in February. See you when I get back.

Hey guys, how’s the holidays so far??????????? I went down to NYC and ate like a puerto rican should but I ate small portions and stayed away from serious fats. I’m impressed, I’ve kept to my goal about staying healthy until my next deployment to Iraq and its right around the corner. After the holidays the next challenge is NTC for 30 days, I’m actually stuck eating Army DFAC food ;-( so sad, but I will work harder to keeping the nasty stuff out. I’m supposed to start a 7 day colon cleansing tomorrow, just thoought I’de try it. Can’t hurt can it, well maybe it could. I’ll keep you posted.

I started taking creatine in Iraq and with the results I loved it back then. I took a good 6mo break after I got back and recently started back up. I ran out two days ago but I’ve lost motivation. I really think my mind is motivated to work out better if I have my creatine and NO running in my system, its part of my morning routine to take my supplements every morning at 0430 to get to the gym by 0500. Is this addictive or just mental that can be controlled as opposed to smoking for example where it is uncontrollable?

Its time consuming, I just wanna lift that’s all. I try to put cardio in my program but it never sticks, it’s like my ab workout, I don’t have one but I try to stay energetic to do something. The holidays don’t seem bad, I went up one pound for thanksgiving so I think I did good. Lets see how christmas and New Years do me. Enjoy your holidays BB World.
