Time to think of what challange to set next..althow I will wate on trying haveing it be the same distance for speed untill the snow and Ice are gone. Sunday the 9th of march had a sort of pathetic start. Basicly sat in bead late and forgot that it was the day to move the clock forward so got to church late and had to rush through brunch and walking the dog to get to swordfighting practice around on time after church. This got me off to an anoyed start. Then I got thare and weighted for about 1/3 hour and no one showed up. I left a message at the desk to tell people i was in the computer lab at the libary if anyone showed up. Checked my account at this site.
Thankefully some of the guys showed up at about 2 (Practice is supposed to start around 12:30) so we got the armer and stuff on and got to practicing. With multiple bouts in a round robben format we went for about 1 1/2 hour before I broke fome of thare armer and tired out the other guy and smashed up his shield 6 ways from sunday. This left me with no ware as mutch workout as i had planed on and expected. Insted of going home and calling it a day in anoyance I went up to where the pull up machene was and did circuts of kenpo combinations and pullups. I got through about 80 combonations with sets of 5 and about 38 asisted pullups and chinups. Then I went home and took the dog for a short walk.
The point being made here is that no mater what cropes up you can finish a workout or at least get one in no matter what changes in your day. The floor is always thare for pushups, mountanclimbers, lunges and squats. If you do a martial art than the forms and combinations are thare in your head. I have a frend who after the birth of his child and other issues with his family can not afford the time or muney to get to a gym so he does his martial arts practic with no partners and lifts multiple rocks in his back yard and is in exelent shape. Last time we spared he had not lost a step and was still an engaging and chalanging aponent. As long as you keep your goal in mind and find some sort of motivation you can acomplish something toward your fitness goals every day..even if you have a late day at work..a long drive…and no time to stop at the gym. Do multiple sets of pushups and situpa without rest between sets untill you can not do any..stretch and call it a day. At least you did something and you can go to bead with no regrets or self recriminations.
Keep at it everyone.

When you are a kid and get a snow day it seems like a gift from the gods. Play all day and sleep in! Does not realy happen that way at 30+!
Snow shoveling, walking the dog (That one is fun), doing odd jobs around the house, arguing with wife about hou to do these odd jobs . The shoveling and dog walking use up some calories but not as manny as you did sledding and snowball fighting as a kid )I am from the generation before nintendo so i actualy did things on those days.
The enoying thing is on a day when you think you could get in extra exercise you end up getting to the gym later. Then you are more tired when you stare so you go slower to complete everything. Tharefore you get finished later, get home later, eat later and get to bed later so the next day is even harder than it would have been if you had just gone to work!! BUT….That is whate mental tuffness comes into play!! Both days just drive through and do it..maby more than you planed..just to prove to your limitations that they do not rule you.
"Creation is an act of pure will!" ya, it was from a dinasaur movie but it rocks! As does"Strength of will, Curage of will" which came from a gameing magizene. Both tie in well with a comment I herd on the site from waytotall "The weights won’t move themselves! And with that I am off!

NOTE: Wish i could find spell check on hers…..I am Dyslexic as ahh hell so give me a brake on the spelling!
I will be at the university of potsdam in NY this weekend to take part in what I at times could argue is one of the most extreme sports that anyone could be crazy enough to engage in, SCA heavy list. SCA stands for society for creative anacronism. This is a groupe of like minded who find meaning in life engaging in activities that try to get a feal for the middle ages by actualy trying to do all the things they did (Althow no one trys to engage in suffering from the bubonic plage!) back then. This involves dressing up in funny clothes and doing all types of things from cooking, acting in period plays, brewing (yaa!!) and other things. My personal favorit is throwing on about 30lbs of armor and hitting my frends (And being hit by them) untill they say enough and fall over. Than we ger up and do it again.
It might seem to be a little strange to here about this an a forum devoted to exercise but give it a second. These are not light hitting scripted events ware you know by the script who is going to win any individual fight, these are actual compotitions that you could compare to UFC meets "Gladiator" meets "13th woarior". Not to mention we also have battles with winners and losers and full contact. We hit hard also..I have put large dents in 13gage steel henmits more than once and receved bruses that took more than a weak and a half to START to fade. These are some of the hardest physical activitys that I have engaged in in my life. These compare in intensity and are almost as exousting as 7 hour blackbelt tests. If you are still not convinced that this is a sport and martial art than (you tube) SCA heavy list and see for yourself. I would argue that it is the closest that you can get to real feel wepon training without actualy causing lasting injury. But most of all….CARDIO…STRENGTH…ENDURENCE…what a RUSH!! Reach out and say" Who’s your DADDY?!!!"
